If you put him in Ellerbes spot and kicked Ellerbe to Wheelers spot would that work?

provided it's not medical based yes i would be down with that fo sho...be the most instinctual backer we have...although he may have lost a step

Jackson, an eight-year veteran of the Browns, was released by the club before they had to pay him a $4.1 million roster bonus on March 15.

Looks like pure money situation

Need some due diligence on this one.

dollars to donuts says he goes to a contender cheap...he's starving for a playoff run

unless someone blows him away

this release could also be with a under the table hand shake to resign him after they clear the cap to lock up or extend alex mack...who is going nowhere by the way

fyi, "Pro Football Focus graded Jackson out as a bottom-six inside linebacker against the run last season. "

they also go on to say though, "Jackson can play every down and is a top-six free agent inside 'backer."

Word I get on release of Browns LB D’Qwell Jackson: “Time to move on.” Sounds like a mutually beneficial decision. Fresh start for both

Would be a great signing for the right price. Still has tread on the tires and he would instantly provide leadership...make it happen.

bottom 6 with those two power pigs in front of him at nose and de....WOW

wonder what that's about...

It just reinforces how stupid Ireland was to guarantee $6.4M of the $10.6M payment to Philip Wheeler in the second year.
No GM is perfect but the magnitude of the Wheeler screwup cannot be understated. JI spent money like a drunken sailor, last year. This was a time when Dawn was actually too accommodating. It also highlights the stupidity of entering contracts with low first year payments ballooning in the second year and guaranteeing it. Miami was taken to the cleaners by Wheeler's agent and hopefully we learn from it.

He'd be great for the locker room. His teammates love him, past and current, describe him as a "leader of men" something we're lacking at this point

Sounds like he was tired of playing for a team on full-rebuild for the past 10 years.

SOUND FAMILIAR!????

yeah but i have heard thats an aponte thing she doesnt like to front load the contracts in year one for some reason...could have been ireland also though wanting to spend on more guys in a win now or walk the plank mode so give all low 1st year cap hits...but apontes pay it forward stuff just doesnt make good sense to me...especially when we have to sit on hot garbage like this now

for instance let's say they sign brandon albert...if we back load that contract with a massive hit after year one etc and pay it all forward i'm gonna be pissed...cause we are just assuming more risk...and albert is already showing small signs of fall off...

the last thing we want to do is be stuck with another bad contract like the philip wheeler disaster...although worse cause a albert deal if we pay it forward is gonna come with a much bigger future hits cause he's gonna command a whole lot more money and guaranteed money
