Calais Campbell to the Arizona Cardinals

3 o

3 of your DLinemen are Edge. One is a midget, the other 2 are one twist away from injured reserve. Something about Mr. Grier and his propensity for getting oft-injured players. You need Big Nasties like Campbell in the middle to chew up blockers. Yes, we can draft a Big Nasty Rd. 1, but this will be at the expense of drafting a top-rated G, or Swingman in Rd. 1. So there you go. Mr. Grier playing chess again. This is like a 5 yr. old going up against Garry Kasparov. You keep your talented Big Nasty, vet team leader you already have in the bldg. at a reasonable price and draft a Guard with your top pick. You know, try to improve the WEAKEST part of your team 1st! The weakest part of your team for 15 yrs! (No, not buying Larry Borom as the 2nd coming of Keith Sims.)

It's clear Grier is playing the compensation picks game again to the detriment of the team. He did this last season and that's how you end up with Skylar Thompson as your backup QB. This year he's decided that a 4th round pick is more valuable than having gaping holes at G, DT, CB and S.

You should only be playing the compensation pick game when you have a deep roster, not when you don't even have a viable starter at 4 f*cking positions.

The alleged fascination with gathering picks is odd
I understand it is an opportunity to add more resources to the team, but as we have learned since 2019 it doesn't matter how many picks you have in a draft if you don't draft well.

Some what off big lost. Next man up
we have no next man. literally nobody on the interior DL as of right now that can fill campbell's role. nice planning by grier and the organization. trying to make us as weak in the trenches as possible i guess.

This is very disappointing. Now we absolutely must prioritise DL at the top of the draft. Hard to feel like the team is prioritising success this season when we let a locker room leader and an absolute beast on the field like this get away for not much money. I read online that Miami only offered $2M.

The cap hit is hurting team. They need do what 49ers are doing. Start over. Instead of doing patch work. That resulting not winning playoff games or SB.

Grier is done. 4 gapping holes and 2 good picks in the draft. Even if he hits on those 2 that still leaves 2 big needs. Good FA are basically gone. He is going to have to come up with a gameplan to get some better picks in the draft and get extremely lucky on those picks. Also he is going to have to be extremely lucky that the o-line starters stays healthy and Paul works out. Grier has really backed himself into a tight corner. I just can't see him being lucky enough to have so many things to fall in place to not only make the playoffs but win a playoff game. Bye Grier.

I would sign Brandon Scherff. He is the best IOL available and hasn't missed a game in the last 3 years. Yes he is 33 but he should have at least another good year or two left in him. I think Daniels can play either OG position since Scherff is a RG. That solidifies our IOL. I think Armstead is going to retire so its Paul and Jackson as the starting OT's. I would look to draft an OT in round 4. Somebody like Logan Brown or Ozzy Trapillo to be the backup swing OT. Maybe there will be a decent FA OT who we could sign as a backup.

Then we can prioritize DT and DB in rounds 1 and 2. Then there should be a good Safety available in round 3.

I don't like whats left on the FA DT and DB market which is why I want to draft one of each in the first 2 rounds.

I would ideally like to trade down from 13 and pick up an extra day 2 draft pick so we can try to fill more needs in the draft.

Seems like QB2 all over. They pay Mike White a King's ransom in guaranteed money to be QB2 over Skylar, then he does not make the team! Then Skylar gets knocked out of the Seattle game, so Boyd steps up. He actually did not play bad in that game either considering Seattle threw the kitchen sink at him, but they lose immediate confidence in him and find Huntley. Then after going 2-3, they lose confidence in him without any training camp to get reps and really learn the offense, so they bring in Zach Wilson. Next they will bring in a UFL QB to compete with Wilson. Does anyone ever get the idea that Mr. Grier just goes to his office everyday, sticks up pics of 20 players and then throws darts at them? Wherever the dart lands, Mr. Grier lands. I wonder if KC, Buffalo, Baltimore and Detroit have to make similar moves? For anyone hoping Mr. Grier hits it big in this draft, I am not sure. Probably drafts smallish Edge, or a Safety with the 1st pick (after moving up 2 spots by giving up our 2nd).

It is almost catastrophic if you want OLine in the 1st + 2nd rd.
This club has to start finding guards later in the draft like everyone else. If we can only solve it with a 1st rounder then we are in perpetual trouble IMO.

I get a top OT but we drafted our LT in 2nd round last year and have AJ on the right side. Who knows with Armstead and we need a swing tackle but do we really want a 3rd tackle with this 1st round pick that likely then moves inside to guard?

Heh it won't hurt for sure, we need all the help we can get there but we have a 2, a 3, two 4's, two 5's. Unless they think Paul is in no way ready (very possible) then I'd much prefer getting our guard later. Actually if Paul is not ready then we're drafting an OT to play OT in the 1st and still need that guard later. Let's hope that's not the case, just means another whiffed 2nd round pick.

I just don't want a first round guard with so many other needs, they just have to figure out how to fill that position later in the draft.
