Clearly Welker isn't on the level of an Andre Johnson, Calvin Johnson, Roddy White etc. because he's never going to get open down the field on the outside and out jump a #1 corner for the football. With that being said, if you can put up 120 catches for almost 1600 yds and 9 TDs, I don't care where you line up on the field you can clearly be a big asset to an offense. The Dolphins never used him properly when he was here, the guy can get open with crossing routes, outs and option routes as well as anybody in the NFL, and he has some of the best hands in the league.
Would he be able to put up the huge numbers he put up last year in MOST NFL offenses? No, but he can still be a very good player no matter where he is. If we played it right we could have had Brandon Marshall, Wes Welker, Rob Gronkowski and Drew Brees on our offense. Lolzers.
