can 34 and 23 block for eachother?

I just don't see why people still see us doing poorly this season. The defense is going to be better than it has been for a couple of years, and when have you not seen a team make it to the playoffs that has.........2 Stud RB's, 3 Pro Bowl caliber WR's still pretty much in their prime(I know Chambers hasn't been yet, but he's good enough) and a pro bowl caliber T.E.(YES Mcmike is pro bowl material). I know there are still ????'s at QB, and O-line, but Frerotte looks to be much better than Fiedler when he was here, and the O-line is vastly improving. WE WILL COMPETE, and "WE WILL MAKE A PLAYOFF RUN!!!!!!!!!" Quote me on that, save it, write it down, take a picture, tell all your friends, and remember it PLEASE!!! LoL seriously, I honestly think we are going to be MUCH better than nearly anyone thinks

I'm sure this has been discussed at some point, but how feasible is this? Could the Dolphins eventually put Ricky and Ronnie in the same backfield on first down? have they even hinted at practicing it? mentioned it?

The split T? The offset I?

Two halfbacks is somewhat out of style in the NFL these days, but they are two big backs... Brown has a bit of fullback experience, no? Sure would keep the LBs guessing and running ragged...

Just offering that for discussion... I dunno...

It's been talked about a lot...Brown with his recieving prowess and straight-ahead running style, RW with his power and inside running...and then Linehan can mix things up as to who is going to get the ball when both are on the field...allows the O to disguise whether it'll be a run to RW, run to Brown or passes to either or pass to our WRs...could be pretty exciting...but as to your question about blocking...RW is an adequate blocker...Brown is an excellent blocker...

i think Ronnie could block for Ricky, and do it well... Ronnie does have that fullback experience. It worked at Auburn - we could line Ricky up at RB and then Ronnie up at FB, we could then get Ronnie going in motion, maybe move him into the slot as a receiver... the possibilities are endless with these two.
Geez, that sounds beautiful.......2nd and 4, we show an I formation with R&R....the defense is confident that a run is coming....then Ronnie goes in motion, sets wide and all of a suden we're in a three wide single-back set....the defense is scrambling....the ball is snapped....

Ahhhhh, the possibilities...

I don't think you use either of these guys as blocking backs. It takes enough of a toll on a RB to get tackled on almost every play. You don't want to be slamming your 25 million dollar running back into a linebacker (without the ball!) on top of that.

I don't think you worry about how much somebody is making when you're trying to score touch downs.

Nice shot of AJ!

ummmmmm, i think its been said before by the coaching staff, that ronnie will be playing FB. that implies that come game 5, the Ricky and Ronnie reality show begins.

Huh? Why not? They block on playaction, and there's going to be enough of that this year...I don't think Ronnie is going to b*tch having to block for Ricky, or vice versa. Doubt we'll see much "I" formation though, more likely "pro form" (T) lined up parallel, with one going in motion to the slot quite frequently (most likely Brown).

I see the dynamic duo working well together, but we won't see them as much as we want to on the field at the same time until late in the season. If we are making a playoff run then we could see it a lot.

Look for them to be splitting carries ala Duce/Bettis by mid-season. The huge advantage we have is late in a game or late in the season we are going to have fresh playmakers on the field.

With ronnies great hands, I wouldn't be surprised if they put him in motion and ran him out wide. Talk about confusing the defenses!!!! They wouldn't know what to do!!!

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO. you will not see our $34 million franchise tail back laying a lead block on takeo spikes. this is not madden guys. however, this does not mean that we won't see them in the backfield at the same time. it's just more likely that when this happens you will see ronnie motion out wide and then it will be a single back run or pass. but to think we are going to line up in a base 2 back set and ronnie is going to lead ricky into the a or b gap, ain't gonna happen guys. sorry.

I think most people are thinking sweeps and such....it doesn't make a lot of sense to have a 230 lb RB lead block up the middle, you're right.

yeah i might run a sweep here or there but right now i dont know how good our guards are at pulling.

I disagree, I think he will be asked to lead block on a few designed plays. guys don't get injured blocking when they know their assignment, they get injured being tackled from behind or side when they're not balanced, or being on the field when they're tired.

Also, if Ronnie goes in motion to the slot, expect to have him lead block on a pitch/sweep to Ricky.

You use a player as dynamic as Brown in every way you can, you just don't put them in a dangerous situation that doesn't utilize their skills (like special teams defense). They had him returning punts in practice already for conditioning, but you can be damn sure if Wes went down that he would be an option if the game was tight.
