Can anyone here say that Dion Jordan looked good last year?

Jordan had an underachieving, not a horrible, rookie season. As has been written in this thread, he was limited due to injury, the play of our veteran DE's, and coaching. When he was on the field the offense knew it. In his limited time on the field he created havoc a number of times.

Now, this thread is the definition of "HORRIBLE". There are a lot of accusations and fairy tale beliefs (like "it")... "IT" is nothing more than having the ability to play in the NFL. This "it" that some speak of is nothing more than talent and determination. No player has "magic"...."clutch"..."it"...etc....these things don't really exist in the way that some wish to believe.

Jordan is a physical specimen who may or may not last a long time in the NFL. Again, however, he showed a lot of promise during the time he spent on the field.

They found a way to measure "heart" at the combine?

Intangibles. Look it up.

Kind of hard to get on the field when you have two other DE's playing at pro bowl levels...I'm sure no one would have expected Vernon to have the type of year he had.

and that's why Derrick Shelby started over him. Kind of hard to get on field when you are getting outplayed by Derrick Shelby.

For a 3rd overall pick he had a very dissapointing season. Not sure how any one can argue that.

4 Things in response -

1. Everybody knew he was damaged goods and was in repair -> People who don't understand a tear of this nature and surgery of this nature would think that Dion would dominate at DE with only ONE FREAKIN WING and ZERO RUSH MOVES:idk:

2. It was a weak draft to begin with - so it was a huge gamble moving to #3 -> I give credit JI with the move  (I thought he was drafting another player)

3. Here JI "like a boss" over thought this one -> JI thought he could take a run at Jordan beacuse he thought he would be around to see Dion blossom - Oops!

4. Dion is outta position he is an OLB :idk:

Jordan played in 26 percent of the snaps, he made a few good plays on pass rush and was absolutey dreadful against the run which is why the coaching staff said he did not play more.

Good post although he was healthy at beginning of season and that's why he did play special teams. For a labrum tear it should not have affected him 9 months after the surgey, it affected his workouts in offseason and he played with it tore so it was not a horrible labrum tear

To say he had a Horrible rookie season is way off the mark. We knew he was coming off a serious injury and was't going to be very effective this year. What I did see was flashes of player that has crazy potential. Athletically, he is a freak and I think that there is a place for him in any defense 3-4, 4-3, whatever. My concern is wether or not he has the desire to be great. That takes more than God given ability. It depends on what he has between the ears and how hard he wants to work and learn. I'm surprised to hear that he hasn't contacted Jason Taylor. He has a future Hall of Famer that is more than willing to help him become the best player he can be and he hasn't called him yet. This is concerning.

Maybe Philly starting rumors to push us into dealing him and essentially lowering the price. What is the source of this latest info?

Dion Jordan had numerous explosive plays and caused two turnovers on just hitting the quarterback alone. He will be a force to be reckoned with

dion jordan had numerous explosive plays?? wow what games are you people watching?? he freaking sucked but for a few plays all year. the play against atlanta and the play where he caused a pick 6...other than that he was absolute sh*t. its mind boggling to me how someone mentioned he covered te's like a glove...really how many times did he actually cover a te, 5 times all year? most of the posters on here are so blinded by their love for the dolphins its not practical to even argue with them...a waste of time. the guy sucked last year and add to that his bad work ethic and i dont know how people are so in love with this guy...

He re-injured the same shoulder in Preseason - he was held out a lot - you just don't hear him and the team making excuses about how it impacted his regular season

These tears take a lot more time - and then to play out of position - assinine - but JI and Philbin really had no options when we started to lose - fans wouldn't have it

no hugs needed, very used to this team making one ridiculous decision after another. but i will say drafting this guy 3rd overall and watching him play was pretty...pretty depressing.

I don't buy he was still banged uo, they played him on special teams and a lot the game when Wake got hurt. Then the following week they chose Shelby over him to start.
He isn't a 4-3 end or linebacker. He isn't anything special in my opinion, we should have stayed put and got a better player than him and another possible starter in second.
Im fairly familiar with these tears with my profession and football background if he was still injured or hurting they would not have risked him on special teams and played him so much in that one game.

I don't get the logic at all in drafting him for our defense or that he was the third best player in the draft. Reminds me on the Brown pick. He may be a good player at some point but not worth the third pick in draft in any way
