Can anyone here say that Dion Jordan looked good last year?

What you don't seem to understand is that while other players were in the strength and conditioning program, Jordan was rehabbing. During training camp when other players were on the field, Jordan was rehabbing. Rehabbing this type of injury meant Jordan could not lift enough weights to get stronger and thus made him a liability against the run. Also spending the amount of time Jordan spent rehabbing his shoulder prevented him from working on the techniques needed to be as effective as he needed to be while on the field.

I know Jordan played in the first two preseason game but was limited to only seven snaps against the Jags leading many to think he re-injured his shoulder which further push back Dion's development.

What we don't know is how healthy Dion was at the beginning of he season.

Don't forget that Oregon runs their semesters later than most other schools, which made Jordan late to camp.

my son had labrum surgery, take it from one who knows, its a hard rehab and the fact that he played as well as he did is amazing, I think he is going to be a beast when he gets healthy. The shoulder is a psychological issue for him as well, given a year of strength training he will blossom IMHO

Agree - Funny how people who have never been around people with this kind of surgery have all the answers

for all the shoulder surgery people, why did dave hyde report the other day the coaching staff was very disappointed in jordans work habits and work ethic? i mean if he has all this potential and all he needs is playing time then why didnt he play more in november and december?

That's a question the coaching staff needs to answer but here is what they said in November.
“Dion is not going to be in there where teams are slugging it out running the football,” Coyle said. “This team threw the ball 21 times in the game, and he was in there for half of them in the rotation that he’s playing in right now. If teams are going to be featuring certain personnel and running the football on first and second down, that’s not Dion’s strength at this point in his time here with us. That’s not going to change this season.”

if he wsnt healthy they would not have risked him on special teamsor so much when Wake got hurt in the game. He struggled versus the run the coaching staff said that, not sure why people want to keep making excuses for him.

Only thing I saw out of Jordan was amazing potential and play-making ability. I always found myself asking: " Why the hell isn't he in on every down?".

Why do you only post negative crap?

Because he was a liability against the run.

So were Wheeler and Ellerbe..
Vernon was great vs the run as well right?
Lets not act like he was the lone weakspot vs the run.

No one is acting like he was the lone weakspot vs the run. I was just answering the question of why Jordan was not on the field more.

I think we should find a way to fit him into our defense and utilize his skillset...that's what Shula would have done.

Otherwise. .we should trade him.

I recall him covering Gronk down the field in the first NE game. He made plays - he just didn't play that much.

Right or wrong, liked or disliked here is my take on Jordan from what I saw when I zeroed in on him. He did make some plays whether it be through influencing the blocking and freeing someone else up or being the guy that got freed up. I also did notice him in coverage a few times and he seemed to do a pretty good job. The disappointing part to me is every play I remember him making was on a rush where he was freed up due to confusion. I never once saw him smoke the tackle by going getting the corner with speed, quickness and explosiveness and getting to the QB. This is more disappointing to me then the fact he was used as a situational pass rusher and not a starter. When I watched him man vs man on the edge it always looked the same. Slow of the ball, usually late, tried to get the corner but failed so tried to get back inside and shed the tackle but again failed. The guys young, has some potential and made some plays but to me as a situational speed pass rusher not getting the edge once (in my memory) is very disappointing. Even guys like Lorenzo Bromell were able to do this a couple times as a rookie and he should be no where near the caliber a player as Dion Jordan.
