Can we handle the truth?

I don't think Philbin ordered the Code Red. I do think it may have, in a round about way, come from Turner.
Here's how I picture it happening...

Turner standing on the sidelines watching Martin practice, Richie and others standing by as well.
Turner blows the whistle.
Turner: Martin, get up and Block! Darn that guy is soft! Man, do I wish someone would toughen him up!
Richie (in his head): Me got this one, boss! Me know just what to do....

LOL!
Obviously, this probably WAY over simplifies it all, but if Miami runs with this story, it may keep the bleeding to a minimum.

WOW, JUST WOW !!!The 4-letter establishes the meme and you guys buy it. When are you guyys going to get it ? The 4-letter is going to HYPE this because of the $$$. The game on Monday alone is more than enough reason but there are others.

Stop watching ! You want balenced coverage, watch NFLN. You want ratings-driven HYPE filled with out and out lies ? You know where to go.

I dont know what happened on the Cowboys in terms of control during that period. But for me, I would have had to see Philbin have more interaction and understanding of the team. Its just my opinion but I think its a sign that he doesnt.
I disagree. I've seen nothing to indicate that the coaches have no control over what's going on. Far worse happened on the Dallas Cowboys when they were winning Super Bowls, did JJ not have control of the team?

I don't think Joe Philbin is the warm-hearted, fuzzy guy he is seen as here. I think he is a total hard-ass in private. Just the impression I get from Hard Knocks and from the occasional report about things like him dressing down an assistant in front of everyone.

I think that if all parties involved can figure out a path out of this, Joe can keep his job if the team performs well. If Richie's camp or Martin's camp decides to raze the earth though, it's over for Joe.

I highly doubt that everything has come out yet.

I'm in the same boat as you

It makes no difference who ordered what. This team is a nightmare. One thing after the other it just never stops. I'm not surprised when something goes wrong for our team. I'm very surprised when something goes right tho.

Ozzy rules!!

If I'm Ross, when I'm not spending time on damage control, I'm developing a short term plan to escort these people to the door and get an interim staff together to salvage this season. And once I've stabilized my company, I'm devoted my time to a long term plan that starts with the very first brick in this organization and doesn't stop until the roof is completed.

Make no mistake, the very essence of this organization is in crisis and being tested. Ross is in a defining moment of his ownership. How he handles this will decide the fate of this team for the next decade, if not longer.

He needs to do damage control AND clean house. The two are not mutually exclusive.

Maybe we can get a new logo after we clean house?
This whale must have bad mojo!

any team that had Charles haley in the locker room has a lot to answer for.

It's only a matter of time before Ross sells the team. Especially if we don't make the playoffs, he'll sell the team and new ownership will clean out everything.

This organization is run by some real creeps

Ya know guys after reading all the media reports that are scapegoating everyone that is not sucking up to their opinion if this thing does not blow over then the entire NFL is at risk of loosing control. Eventually you could get to a point that in order for a coach to even talk to his players he will have to go through a kids agent. We will eventually have flag football and are getting closer to it all the time. Shula was known for his practices in the rain and 2 a days in the grueling Florida sun something that is not allowed anymore because of health issues. Those practices though toughened the boys into men or they left the team. Times were different back then I suspect all this ghetto chatter was not tolerated by the man Shula but listen to all the rappers out there now hamering out the N work making it a part of the culture. Ironically the N word is only bad if it comes out of a mouth that is not African American and thats not right. You don't read about the media attempting to correct this wrong. Anyway if a coach no longer drill his players to get in shape and he can no longer call them out if they are out of shape then you end up with not much of a player. Thats what this is leading into. We just do not have enough Dads teaching their boys to be men and that is sad as instead we letting society teach them to run away and tatle tale first.

Its also even more sad when you consider Lewis the linebacker for the Ravens was convicted of murder and Ben R of Pitt was convicted of rape and those situations got less attention than this and those guys still got to play. Geeh Sticks and Stones will break my bones but words will never hurt me. Ever heard that growing up? Now we are teaching our kids that words will always hurt me and throwing sticks and stones are OK.

Ben was convicted of rape?
