Carry 6 WR's?

Tony is that you again trolling these bords.Child Please

we are unsettled on the oline. we have hartline, Bess, Marshall< gates and anothr guy prob what good would keeping a sixth wr do. No one beyond gates is a long term solution .

I would expect the Dophins to keep 11 rb/wr. I think the rbs will be Bush, Thomas, Polite, Clay, and Hilliard. The wrs will be Marshall, Bess, Gates. That leaves 3 slots: 2 will be a wr (Moore, Hartline or Wallace). The other will be the best Special Teams player be it a rb or wr. Since the Dolphins will likely emphasise the run I suspect the 11th spot will be Kory Sheets or a running back claimed off waivers.

OR Clay may be listed at TE behind Fasano...

I think the fact that Reggie Bush can do a lot as a receiver means that in a lot of ways we are already carrying an extra receiver. While there are a lot young guys who seemingly have talent, I don't think any of them are gonna turn into superstars if we cut them.

i was going to say the same thing about reggie. and the fact that reggie will line up in the slot alot could mean we only carry 5 wr and 4rb. but then there is the clay factor who can play te rb and fb. but i think there will be 5wr, 4rb

I think the Fins have to carry seven. Teams generally keep two more receivers than they can/will use on gameday and I have the sneaking suspicion that Daboll is going to be use 5 WR sets a lot.

Damn.. it sure is nice to have a debate about who would be our 6th receiver.. we've come a long way.

If we keep 6wrs we will probably only cary 3rbs. It will come down to sheets or moore.

It's kinda stupid to keep 6 when Bush will be used as a receiver anyway and work from the slot. Also Clay is a pass catching H-back/TE type and can be shifted out wide from the slot as well.

Why would you keep 6 when it's extremely rare to see a 4 WR set ? Less than 5% of plays in the NFL are with a 4 WR set, you may see 4 receiver "personnel" but not 4 "actual wide receivers out there on any given play as it's extremely rare to see that (the 4th receiver is a back or TE stretched out wide, not 4 wide receivers)

having a 6th WR who's not good or NFL ready is just not smart thinking. We need that roster spot for better players at other positions. It's just silly to keep six WR's for a variety of reasons. Stick one of them on the practice squad and they will likely be practice squad fodder anyway. Then call them up in case of any multiple injuries to the WR corps. That's what the practice squad is for.

When I watched the team in training camp last year Wallace was a guy who stuck out to me as having great physical skills. I remember coming back on here and saying that Patrick Turner's days were numbered. His problem, then as now, is not just inexperience (who can forget him running out of bounds on a deep route, then coming back in bounds when the pass was thrown to him, thus drawing a penalty, and then topping it off by dropping the ball?), it's that he's ponderous getting off the line of scrimmage. Even mediocre corners stoned him with ease. But he has much more upside than Marlon Moore, who's thin legged, a long strider and fights the football like it's trying to rape him.

I can see us carrying 5 WRs, but not six. Patrick Carter might be having a nice camp but he's going to have to have a huge preseason not to end up in the Brian Manning Hall of Fame. Heck, it's a step up from there even to get to Robert Baker territory.

We'll probably sneak Pruitt or Livas to the practice squad. I think Moore has ability, but his hands just aren't that great. He dropped passes all last year, and from what I've heard, he's been dropping them in training camp. I was a fan of his, but I just don't see him making it.

Hope Carter has a great preseason. Our last WR needs to be a developmental guy with terrific measurables imo, who offers good potential. He fits the bill at 6'3, 215, with 4.3 speed. Wallace does too. I'd be surprised if Moore makes the team.

No reason at all to keep a sixth receiver. If any of our guys stand out make them the fifth guy and move on. roster spots are just too valuable and for a guy who wont play much makes little sense

You don't need 6 receivers with Bush on the roster, he can more then adequately split out and become a legit threat.

1.Marshal
2.Bess
3.Hartline
4.Bush
5.Gates
6.Wallace

No need to keep six.
