Analysis

Positives: Has a big, wide lower body frame, soft mid-section, developed shoulders and arms ... Has adequate quickness at the snap to get into the defender's chest ... Gets good movement with his initial pop and the strength to sustain at the point of attack ... Shows a strong hand punch to jolt pass rushers and does a nice job of picking up stunts ... His good hand placement allows him to steer out defenders working in the short area.

Negatives: Takes short, choppy steps and is too heavy-legged to consistently get to the point of attack (maintains position once he gets there) ... Shows good hand placement, but fails to lock out, especially when redirecting ... Short area puller, at best, as he lacks the speed to get out on the edge and struggles to get to the second level ... Can only control in the short area when pass protecting, as he will open the gate on twists, as he has trouble picking up his feet

Looks like a good player. So we have two more picks left. Two seventh rounders right.

Negatives seem to outweight positives.. but we needed a C for depth anyway. If he doesnt make the team, theres always Tim Ruddy..lol

Heres one more...

http://www.nflfans.com/draft/2004/showplayer.php?key=Rex Hadnot

HEIGHT:6.02
WEIGHT:320
225# REPS:28
40 AVERAGE:5.22

Pros: Big powerful lower body with excellent strength and balance makes him very effective in run packages. Excellent hand work. Very productive and experienced OC who is tough and versatile, can play OG as well.

Cons: A bit on the short side and may to get into better condition to speed up footwork for pass protection purposes. Lacks agility and not exceptionally athletic. Not a student of the game but a great motor who gives great effort.

CLUB HOUSE: Has developed into one of the top offensive linemen in Conference USA...listed as the starter at center heading into fall camp...teams with another senior, Al James to form one of the top tandems in the league...forceful run blocker who has speed and agility to pull on traps and counters ...also is a punishing pass protector with a strong base and good upper body strength...showed versatility last season with play at center...could start at either left guard or center this season...is an honors candidate again in 2003 could find himself on the Watch Lists for both the Lombardi Award and/or the Rimington Award

Nice pick.

Again looks like good value. seen him rated as a 4th-5th rounder.

big guy. Hopefully will be able to compete.

Kiper just said he was a player whose stock was rising the last two days, said it was a good pick.

so they are not really sold on seth, or since he is listed as G as well, he could compete for RG

Found this...very interesting stuff:

From 2002:

did not allowed a sack in 11 of 12 games...only sack came in season opener versus Rice...was named UH Offensive Player of the Week for performance against Texas...graded out at 85% against nationally-ranked Longhorns...recorded seven pancakes, 13 knockdowns and four ESPN blocks in that contest...set team records with 160 pancake blocks, 196 knockdown blocks and 122 ESPN blocks...yearly grade average is 89 percent

Snipets about our picks thus far.

Rd Sel# Team Player Pos Ht Wt School
1 19 Dolphins Vernon Carey T 6-5 355 Miami (FL)
The FOX Take: Carey is a versatile guy who can play just about anywhere along the O-line. It's no surprise Miami addressed the O-line early.

4 103 Dolphins Will Poole CB 6-0 190 USC
The FOX Take: Slid considerably over concerns about his speed, and is a real steal for the Dolphins in the fourth round.

5 161 Dolphins Tony Bua S 5-11 210 Arkansas
The FOX Take: Has drawn comparisons to safety Adam Archuletta of the Rams.

6 175 Dolphins Rex (Jonathan) Hadnot C 6-2 310 Houston
The FOX Take: Was listed on the 2003 Lombardi Award and Rimington Award watch lists, but ultimately didn't win awards.

More on Hadnot from nflfans.com

2001: Started every game...did not give up a sack in over 400 passing attempts...averaged out at 86 percent all season long...was named UH Offensive Player of the Week versus TCU and Southern Miss...had a season-high 19 knockdown blocks against Southern Miss...also had double-digit knockdown blocks against Cincinnati (12), South Florida (17) and Louisville (11)...recorded 104 knockdown blocks on througout the year...also registered 46 pancake and 30 "ESPN" blocks...was named Conference USA First Team by CollegeFootball.com

Welcome to the Spielman Era.

Good drafts are coming our way.

For us to get Carey and Poole, this really is a great draft. Hadnot and Bua look alright.
Would be great if we could get a big name guy now that has slid - Cody Pickett, Jeff Smoker, Brandon Everage.
