Chad Henne vs. Ryan Tannehill: A Scary Thought?

Sorry, but another question: why do you suppose the conclusion that we could neither anoint nor dismiss Tannehill wasn't made from the observation of the data alone in the original post? Why do you suppose I would've had to write that myself to steer people in that direction?
I'll answer your question once you actually answer mine.

To be fair I've asked you three times now, and you've refused to answer three times, I'll let people draw their conclusions from your refusal to answer a simple question.
I'm good with that.

Well I'll give you one final stat Shouright, number of times I asked you a simple question is 3, number of times you answered it is zero, or 0%
Are we here to talk about the Miami Dolphins, or the way some guy who calls himself "shouright" on a message board conducts himself in a thread? Why is how I conduct myself even a topic for consideration?

Actually I truly appreciate your contribution. You've illustrated very well how any insistence that Ryan Tannehill will definitely be better than Chad Henne has to boil down to one's self-proclaimed omniscience, which can't possibly be real. :)

Owned. LOL

Hahaha ..... textbook forum fodder man. They don't like something you say and they try to derail the thread into talking specifically about the poster.

Henne would have thrown the ball away to avoid a sack on that fourth down at the end of the game, thats the difference.

I'm not "insisting" on anything. He already is better than Henne (not that the bar was very high). Again, it simply comes down to you not having a clue about the game outside of what meaninglessness you can find on nfl.com/stats. You watched Moneyball and thought, "by golly, I can do this with football too!" And you were wrong. Stats can back up what is seen on the field, in supplemental form only. I can say, "Gabbert absolutely blows" based on what I see and the basic stats clearly back that up. What you try to do is say, "Gabbert doesn't suck, and here's some made up stats to back up that assertion." And of course, you can't figure out WHY he sucks based on stats. There's simply no statistical way to measure the fear that chump has in his eyes in the face of pass rush or his horrible decision-making. Lucky for stats "gurus," the extreme case of a turd like Gabbert provides very clear stats in defense of the assertion that he sucks. Unfortunately, judging up-and-coming QBs is more difficult for those types, because it requires actual interaction with living people and understanding how they work, particularly in a team setting, which requires stepping away from their excel sheets and calculators.

If you can't tell the difference between Tannehill and Henne at this point, you simply never will. There's nothing wrong with that. Some people just don't have a clue what they are seeing. I'm the same way with hockey, to be honest. I'm relatively new to the sport. I love watching the games, but when it comes down to judging new players and how they are developing, I don't have a clue, and I don't bother making stuff up to make it seem like I do.

I'm still not impressed.
This is about the point at which Henne started deteriorating in his second year as a starter (2010). Prior to this point in that season he had the fewest number of 21+ yard throws in the air in the league, and then when the coaching staff expanded the offense to include the downfield game, he deteriorated from then on.

Who knows where Tannehill is going to go from here, but right now he's hovering right around average.

Thus far he looks like a more athletic Chad Henne. Some really good, some really bad. Shows flashes but too many costly mistakes. Doesn't take care of the ball well enough.
Today Tannehill put together a few really good drives but it wasn't enough to overcome some really bad throws that really cost us. Sound familiar?

Interesting to see you around these parts after a loss.

Henne never had a line this bad.
