Caldwell likely will have the most direct contact with Rosen as his quarterbacks coach -- and it will be a luxury for an inquisitive mind like Rosen to get plenty of one-on-one attention with the man who coached Peyton Manning for a decade. Caldwell also has been a two-time NFL head coach, and he's the most veteran coach on the Dolphins' staff -- a perfect brain for Rosen to pick.

Expect the Dolphins' offense under O'Shea, Caldwell and running backs coach Eric Studesville to include heavy usage for running backs in the passing game, quick easy-read passes, a middle-of-the-field attack, and play-action to keep defenders guessing.

I don't know that you can "revive" something after 1 season.

Semantics aside, despite the possible O-line shortcomings, I agree.

Caldwell, in particular, should be an invaluable asset for Rosen, and I have no doubt that O'shea is a better coordinator than he had in AZ.

This is really the best case scenario for Josh, if he is going to attain his full potential.

But if you’re optimistic, Wolfe has a good point. Caldwell can be an excellent teacher and if O’Shea has truly absorbed strategy under McDaniels, they can both really develop Josh.

Caldwell worked with Peyton, who was as cerebral as it gets in terms of reading the field, making pre-snap decisions, etc. Peyton didn’t have Cutler or Jeff George arm strength or great mobility. But he knew what he was doing mentally and had physical skill to execute.

The Pats do a great job on a number of fronts, including quick trigger to avoid sacks and identifying mismatches.

It won’t happen overnight, but they can put Josh in position to succeed if Josh puts in the work. There’s the mental makeup aspect to quarterbacking and the “it factor,” which all remains to be seen. Is he a winner that will command the team down the field in tough spots? Let’s see. Coaching can put you in good spots, but does the qb have the composure to get it done under stress?

We have a strong staff. I expect leaps and bounds improvements for Josh.

The Dolphins' template for success lies in Los Angeles, where the perception of Rams quarterback Jared Goff flipped from a potential bust (after a disastrous Year 1) to an important piece of an ascending contender (after Year 2).

Sean McVay proved to be a strong variable in Goff's turnaround, as the head coach stepped in as a creative playcaller and understanding leader who shaped his offense to highlight Goff's strengths and hide his weaknesses.

In a best-case scenario for Miami, the Dolphins aim to maximize the skill set of their own newly acquired top-10 talent and unlock a Rosen revival during the 2019 season. There's no McVay in Miami. But the Dolphins do have an experienced quarterback expert in Jim Caldwell on staff, and fans should get to know O'Shea well, because those two hold the keys to making this Rosen experiment work.

I don’t think anybody views Rosen like Goff after season one.... let’s face it, the Cardinals were a mess last year... and he lost all 5 starting O-lineman to IR by mid-season.

Nightmare situation for any rookie QB... still, his numbers were comparable to Darnold and Allen.

And his arm is far superior to Goff’s.

It’s funny how everyone is still on McVay’s nuts. I seem to remember our coach’s defense shutting McVay down lol.

Rosen is definitely setup for success with our coaches now. I can’t wait to see how this turns out.

Having good coaching will help but having a good O-line will help way more. Protect the QB and he'll do much better. He was sacked 45 times last year in Arizona. That numbers has to come down a lot in Miami in order for him to do as well as we're hoping for.
