Channing Crowder Retiring...

I wonder why they didnt approach him to take a paycut / role change like they did with Vernon?

WQAM will pay him half a million a year to host his own show probably. Hopefully he'll replace Mumbling Michael Irvin at mid-day.

It's hard to walk away from a 7 digit income when you're a young man and start over, especially if you've got the typical expenses. I predict someone will get injured somewhere and that team will make him an offer he can't refuse, especially a few months after no paycheck or greatly reduced one if he goes the media route.

Good point. I mean, if Burnett or Dansby went down, he'd be a step up from Edds or Spitler starting wouldn't he?

Either him or Gino "Personality of Dried Paint" Torretta.

SkapePhin hit it on the head. Why not try to bring him in in a backup role. Win win situation. He stays in Fla and he gets paid. And we have a very capable backup. Someone who can come in when needed and knows the guys and the system.

Admirable decision on his part. Nothing wrong with wanting to spend more time with your family and keep them from having to move. I suspect at some point he'll be back in a lesser role with a lesser contract. He's a good hearted guy and I don't think you can get much better of a backup/role player at the LB position than him. He was always a solid player, he just couldn't give us what we really needed.

Hope to see him back in a lesser role.

first MLB that gets hurt in the preseason or early in the year, that team will call him. He will be back then.

Until then this is JUST a way to keep his name alive in the press

i'm sure the knees had to do with it somewhat as far as little to no interest really but lets be honest here peeps...

crowder in what like 5 years has made only one game changing play since he got here...and that was a direct result of wake draped on bradys legs and brady throwing it right into crowders body...

hell ted ginn made more plays than that when he was here...

He's not stupid like everyone makes him out to be. He probably has plenty of money saved up and will never have to work another day in his life if he doesn't want to.

Unless we feel like we'd be cutting an ILB we like (Spitler) to bring Crowder back. Now personally I'm not a huge Spitler fan, but I could see the coaching staff viewing Crowder as a progress-stopper for younger guys.

Now it seems like he will be signing a contract with WQAM. The program director just came on and basically offered him a position. I suspect he will get a daytime weekdays slot, hopefully replacing Gino Toretta or Michael Irvin.

He'll get over it. Someone will get hurt and give him a call and he'll miss the game enough to go back. There are teams that are interested. The Eagles are trying to start Casey Matthews at MLB right now. You know if he disappoints in camp and preseason they'll be giving him a call. A million dollars (or more) is a lot of damn money to leave on the table.

you get no upside with channing crowder...just blah...and mostly tackles 5 yards past the los...

It wouldn't be bad to sign him again as a backup, that is of course for minimum salary. Currently Edds and Spitler are the backups, so it definitely wouldn't hurt.

Then again, who cares haha.

I also expect Ricky Williams to be hosting a show on WQAM next year. He's tight with Sid and the program director.
