Are you guys concerned about his past? I mean, isn't the guy a criminal?

Yes, I am. Saban apparently decided on taking the risk in light of his talent. It's a judgment call.

He got into a couple fights outside a nightclub. Youthful indiscretion. I'm more concerned about his medical history, Dr. Andrews' approval notwithstanding.

However, in round 3, he's well worth the gamble.

Criminal? He got arrested for fighting, have you ever been in a fight? If yes, does that make you a criminal?

Hes a kid.......................

I think its a risk reward thing. Like all picks there is risk. He has more risk when there are possible "charachter issues" however there is some rudced risk in that he was acquired in the 3rd round and not much higher.
I feel the same way about McPherson. He would have been worth moving up to take him in the 5th. Low risk, high reward.

It's funny...Matt Roth gets into fights at bars (clearing out a bar according to one story) and is called "fiesty and mean". Crowder gets into fights at nightclubs and is considered a criminal.

If getting arrested for a barfight is a true character concern, the NFL has some serious problems on its hands.

They're 300lb behemoths and unlike most people, they get arrested because when they hit you, you don't get up. There's a fight a night at a lot of clubs, and a lot of times it's just WCMS (white christian male shoving) but when someone's 270lbs he's unlikely to back down or just push.

But I'm not condoning it. You should be aware of your status as a representative of your team and a future NFL player. It better not happen again but a few college bar fights aren't exactly ridiculous criminal material. I'd be more worried about domestic abuse, fraud, theft, etc. Those call your character into question. If you got arrested for the fight, you probably won :)

I'm not. All he had was a couple of bar fights. In my youth I was the kid who saw a challenge everytime somebody bumped into me. That's something I outgrew. Crowder said the right things after his difficulties. This leads me (and apparently Saban) to believe he has outgrown it as well.

I would be no more concerned with Crowder's knee injuries than I would Willis Magahee's, he's rehabilitated and played on them for two seasons.

Well he got in a bar-fight just like Roth did, so if that makes you a criminal :shakeno: than I guess so.

I dont think character is a major issue with this guy. Even if it is he gets to play with two probowl LB in Zach and Seau. The kid sounds like a stud and with the guidance of these two he can only get better!

Channing has clearance from Dr. Andrews and Dr. Indelicata, so I'm fine with that.

Crowder is an out-and-out value pick as a 3rd-rounder. As far as character issues, I can't think of anyone more qualified to qhip someone into shape than Herr Saban.

I was told Crowder threw a keg at a cop....Wether thats true or not i have no idea. But wasteing beer is criminal.....
