Chaos if Miami do not resign grimes and cut Peterson ...

I would be shocked if we didn't resign Grimes. I think we will get a deal done.

Spike you are right about Grimes and free agency...he will generate a lot of interest. Get a deal done ASAP so we can focus on our other needs.
 
Man we didn't know anything about Patterson before last season, he's okay but don't throw up because we don't sign him, he was hurt half the season anyway.
 
It's just a smart football move to let Patterson go. You save a lot of money and can turn around and pay another free agent corner like Shields that money. Grimes is a must.
 
If the guaranteed money for a new contract would be near the same amount as his franchise tag money, then just franchise him and be done with it so we're not worrying about 2014. I'm not sure why this isn't a no-brainer.
I'd give Patterson chance to sign a heavy-incentive-laden contract that would ultimately pay him a lot if he met basic physical benchmarks. An off-season to get healthy might've just done the trick and I'd hate to see him go stay healthy and kick butt for some other team (probably a the Patriots). Nolan Carroll I could take or leave. He's been getting banged up too and his head has gotten foggy a few times, which is a scary risk.
 
If we cut Patterson, I believe we will regret it. Especially since it has been rumored that Nolan Carroll will test the free agency market. We have no other viable starting CB on the roster after Grimes if Patterson is cut.
 
I'm plenty fine with Patterson coming back at a discount. Best case scenario is he comes back healthy and plays the whole year. Worst, and probable case, is he plays 5-9 games and gets 3 picks. $2mil a year for 3 picks and 5 games played is good enough math for me. Also, let's hope those rookies are ready to make the leap.
