If he is making a minumum salary and we have tweedle-dee and tweedle-dum at QB, why on earth would you not take a look-see? Everyone saw both Gus and AJ look like pure (insert derogatory expletetive here) in the preseason. Im not sure why you would just want to ignore the opportunity all together. If you were subjected to any of the Pittsburgh games, you will have noticed he actually looked quite good. In his games Vs Carolina and Philly, he performed much better then AJ or Gus. He actually looked like a real QB.

Timing's not right for Batch to come to the Phins. The Steelers are ready to sign him back right now after Week 1, and the Dolphins are not about to make any offers to him that will monetarily entice him away from the Steelers, where he has the best chance at success in 2005 (even as 3rd string, he knows the offense and the players). Wait til next offseason, when we might be dumping both AJ Feeley AND Gus Frerotte.

In 2006, we could consider bringing Batch in to compete with Sage for the #1 role in the offense, while drafting a rookie QB pretty high (my choice is Omar Jacobs...)

That is excellent reasoning.

My only rebuttle is the fact that he could get in 4 or 5 weeks of practice and get up to speed and dialed in on the 'fins offense. Then with the bye, come week 6-7, you enter Ricky then Batch. Hard to imagine it would take much cash at all. To take a shot for the playoffs or not. Gus+Aj = not.
 
batch is actually a downgrade from ray lucas....he can stay with pittsburgh and back up maddox, who backs up the roethulessburgler.

Get real. He's not as good as either one. In fact, he isn't as good as Rosenfels either.
He's as big a bust as Akili Smith.

Really, hes better then Gus or AJ. Which might not be saying much.

But obviously Gus will get to show his stuff today.
 
i dont believe charlie batch is even getting this many posts. the guy SUCKS, always has. maybe y'all didn't watch him in Detroit, but if he couldn't start w/ the Lions when they were awful, why the hell are we wasting our time talking about him?
