Chiefs to rest starters vs Chargers?

I am getting so much contradictory information and not fact checking any of it before I post like an idiot.

I want our team to make the playoffs, but we blew so many opportunities earlier in the season that, had we NOT, this would be a non-issue. That's the most disappointing thing to me. Which team is going to show up on Sunday? And if we do get in, which team will show up to play in the playoffs? This team has frustrated the **** out of me and I'm certain that I speak for all fans on the board when I say that.

I feel like if we win, we're going to get in. How are we going to perform after that?

Ryan Mathews (ankle) is expected to play in Sunday's Week 17 game against the Chiefs.
Mathews had to briefly leave the win over the Raiders to get his ankle checked out, but he returned to finish with a 25/99/1 line. The boot he wore in the locker room afterward was just to ensure the ligaments didn't get stretched out any more than they already were. Look for Mathews to miss some practice time this week, but the legit Pro Bowl candidate can be penciled into Week 17 lineups. He has at least 25 carries and a touchdown in three straight games -- all Charger wins.

Yep, but they screw up the tiebreaker. We do NOT get in if we lose to the Jets, PERIOD.

In the case that Miami, San Diego, Baltimore and Pittsburgh all lose, BALTIMORE GETS IN. That's a fact.

Everyone wins, Miami in. Everyone loses, Baltimore is in.

Pitt isn't important though. They need to win to get in and the other three lose. You're right, we do need to win though.

You're cool bro. Lot of nonsense out there.

Easy. The dolphins have strength of schedule and a lower limit of variables on their side. Ravens can win but they have two scenarios that harm them if they win.

If they win and chargers win, if I'm not mistaken, they are out. If ravens win and we win and charges win they are out.

If we win and chargers win we are in. If we win and ravens and chargers win we are in. Only scenario we are out with a win involves a ravens only win.

We have more scenarios where if we win we are in. Which means they have more scenarios where if they win they can still be out.

All 3 Win: Dolphins
All 3 lose: Ravens or Steelers
Dolphins and Ravens win: Ravens
Dolphins and Chargers win: Dolphins
Ravens and Chargers win: Chargers
Dolphins only win: Dolphins
Ravens only win: Ravens
Charges ony win: Chargers

So, Dolphins have 3 of the 8 scenarios, Ravens have 2 1/2 and Chargers have 2. If the odds are very strongly in the Dolphins favor, as previously stated, it's based on strength of schedule. Which I have no faith in after last Sunday.

Now that I posted based on believing you, I don't get it. All 3 of Dolphins, Ravens and Chargers are playing a division game. So if all 3 lose (plus Pittsburgh, who would have one more loss than the rest), why is the tiebreaker different than if all 3 win?

because if miami loses to the jets, the dolphins fall to 3rd in the division. and baltimore would have the tiebreaker against the jets and SD.

In a conference tiebreaker, two teams from the same division cannot be in the running. One must be eliminated, and since a dolphins loss ensures the jets and Phins finish 8-8, NY leapfrog us based on this:

TO BREAK A TIE FOR THE WILD-CARD TEAM
If it is necessary to break ties to determine the two Wild-Card clubs from each conference, the following steps will be taken.

If the tied clubs are from the same division, apply division tie breaker.
If the tied clubs are from different divisions, apply the following steps.

Jets edge us in division record so that's why we can't lose and get in.

Never mind, I get it. Jets would eliminate us in the first tie-breaker round based on having a better division record, then be eliminated by Ravens in the next tie-breaker round.
