CK's Pre-Game Piece - Broncos at Dolphins

Anything can happen on Sundays, and you guys have hope in that, but anything else is just wishful thinking. A powerful team is coming to Miami that has improved dramatically on an already top-5 defense, brings the leagues best running outfit, and some offensive playmakers.

That's reality fellas.

You just contradict yourself. You talk about reality while talking about your team being dramatically improved without a play on the football field. Offseason don't mean crap till it's proven on the field.

The facts remain that Miami has "always" had a solid defense. You can fail to realize the numerous injuries the dolphins had on defense (I'd honestly like to see the Bronco's play defense the majority of the season with their top 2 DT's out and their top 2 LB's out a good portion of the time). If Miami defense steps up and the offense doesn't play like utter crap there's always a chance.

But you keep underestimating the team. Hope the Bronco's have also ala the Phins against Houston.

He basically said that Denver is better in nearly every aspect of the game heading into this one, but somehow, magically, Miami will win.

Sounds like fairies will sprinkle magic dust on the Miami players and they will become superfairies to win the game.

LOL, that was really funny. Too bad it was wasted.

Yeah, u might wanna re-read.

That sounds all nice and all if you are looking for warm fuzzies, but I would expect that you come with something a little more based in reality. Denver's Defense is outstanding. Easily better than Miami's in nearly every statistical category. You guys are placing nearly all of your hopes on a new coach. The coach doesnt play on the field.

Look at Plummer's stats from last season. Compare them to anything that Miami can put on the field. Same goes for your WR's and RB. Denver looks like a paper Goliath here.

Well fine then look at History.

Prior to last season it didn't matter who came into MIami. Powerhouses in Manning, defense it didn't matter. The Phins were always eclipsing the 75% win percentage in the first month of the season.

No matter who it was the heat and humidity always weakened the other team in the 4th. Just like Miami weakened in the cold weather late in the season no matter how good they were

History also says that Shanahan has by far the best opening day win percent among active coaches with an astounding 10-2 record.

hell of a post

great post man. Although how are we gonna move the football?

It will be so much fun to see Jake come to the line of scrimmage, read over the defense and feel like he's trying to read the cat in the hat in chinese.. we almost beat this team last year, IN DENVER with a far more inferior team than we currently have and far more inferior coaching....

Phins to the left...my phellow parrothead!!!! Great Post. I have to admit...its very in depth..Ill prolly read it again one more time. Heres to that frozen concotion that will get us through the tough times this year....

Go Fins!!!!!!

Based on last season

compair to 2004 San Diego Chargers

Offense:

Dolphins’ 31st ranked rush O vs. the Broncos’ 4th ranked rush D
Dolphins’ 21st ranked pass O vs. the Broncos’ 6th ranked pass D
Dolphins’ 29th ranked yardage O vs. the Broncos’ 4th ranked yardage D
Dolphins’ 28th ranked scoring O vs. Broncos’ 9th ranked scoring D

Defense:

Dolphins’ 31st ranked rush D vs. Broncos’ 4th ranked rush O
Dolphins’ 2nd ranked pass D vs. Broncos’ 6th ranked pass O
Dolphins’ 8th ranked yardage D vs. Broncos’ 5th ranked yardage O
Dolphins’ 20th ranked scoring D vs. Broncos’ 9th ranked scoring O

Dolphins 23, Broncos 17

Well that doesnt add up. But upsets (with the points) on opening day are common enough.

I suggest you re-read.

Totally agree!
When somebody puts the time and effort writting a piece with so much insight and logic, you should at least read it thoroghly before commenting.
Great writting CK!!

hey man i got news for ya, when it comes to the term "paper champions" we know about that one, its meaningless....

The only thing better about Denver is their O-line. It's always good and in turn makes ANY RB they have look good. Our speed at LB and our D-line(if we keep them rested w/decent offensive drives) will control Denver's running game. AS for Jake Plummer: has he ever done ANYTHING to make him scary to face? Talk about over-rated. I say he's good for 2 INTs in this game. We have yet to see what our defense is completely all about. We saw little flashes of it. WHen Saban got creative, the opposing O got confused and made mistakes. Jake "the Snake" is mistake prone and can be confused easily. We win much easier than anyone would think. 23-10.

By the way: Good break down CK.

Very nice analysis, CK!

Anyway you slice it, Denver is a very good team. Shanahan's offense can cause us a lot of trouble. I expect a few defensive breakdowns (because we are still learning) and big runs from Denver. Our defense is resilient though, and I expect them to overcome any miscues and at least hold steady. If we can get some decent production offensively, we should be able to pull this one off. My hope for this game and the season is for us to show steady improvement and for our players to give maximum effort. I also hope to see some positive game time adjustments from the coaches. Just thinking about it is getting me pumped up! I can't wait for Sunday!!! Go Dolphins!!!

Fantastic Post, some positive things to read a coule days before gametime!!
