Clay: Pay it!

Dude had a knee injury all year last year. He is healed.

He was very productive in 2013.

We need to add playmakers, not lose them.

He may have done fine without him but think about how it is with him. And I have smoked but pick up Cameron too?

Why not...
Bro we need to start replenishing talent by the draft. We can't get in a bidding war for Clay. Same thing for next year's free agents. It is very important going forward that we have very good drafts.

Why not? Because that is a ton of money to invest in a position that we already have good depth in. And sure, he'd do better with him, but would the difference be worth the loss of addressing another position in greater need? Not in my opinion.

How many players can we get this year that make RT and the. offense better this year.?

Why can't we be in win now mode?

the worst part is that clay was developing with us, through the draft, up the depth charts and with our offense.

i really dont want to spend a draft pick this year on a TE... especially what there is this year anyways in the draft.

i just hope Clay comes to his senses, and comes back to Miami to whatever deal we really offer at him.

Bro then perhaps we look at signing an undrafted TE and develop. I think Sims will step up even more.

IMHO Clay isn't a playmaker. He might be a matchup problem but a guy that scores 3 tds, averages 11 yds/ catch and is not a red zone threat is not a playmaker. I'd like to keep him but not at 7 mill. I think Cameron if healthy, is a much better fit for a lot less money. I pray we get him.

Why? (I understand importance of draft, your right)

We have been adding high contracts to scrubs for years. When was the last time we were at 0 cap? The cap can always get worked. Pay it, guaranteed whether we pay or not, we will be sitting with at least 10 mil in space by sept, oct.

He's in Miami right now waiting to hear if Clay signs. His name is Jordan Cameron.

Sign the man!

Ross has got the cash, time to keep our boys home.

Clay is the only guy outside of Landry that breaks tackles.

When healthy, he balls.

i agree.... Sims is coming into his own. i like... red zone target too.

but he offers a different style and ability in our offense. i've spoken on my clay thoughts all over the forum.... i cant rant anymore really. i just really hope we find a way to get him back here. the combination of him and Sims would be awesome to have for our offense developing and moving forward in the future.

try to sign it into a long term contract too... help that money out (i know i am in minority on this Clay stuff)

I agree to disagree. I think it is time to move on and wish Clay the best except when he is playing us.

Probably use some of the $7 million we have on hold for Clay to sign him if he doesn't sign with another team. Or the team looks to the draft.

have you guys seen Suh's contract? hes only getting 6.1 mil against the 2015 cap. huge signing bonus but the cap number is the number to look at. 985k base salary which is very odd

Charles Clay update
Posted by Chris Brown on March 11, 2015 – 12:44 pm

Miami free agent TE Charles Clay is in the midst of a visit at One Bills Drive where he’s meeting with coaches and taking a physical. Bills GM Doug Whaley commented on where things sit with Buffalo’s interest in signing Clay to an offer sheet being the Dolphins transition player.
“That’s what we’re determining now with the visit and have him talk to the coaches because it has to be a mutual thing. It’s up to him which offer he takes back,” said Whaley of Clay. “That’s why it’s important for him to get in here, talk to the coaches, take a physical and get a general feeling of what we can offer him and he can offer us.”
When asked what their strategy is in terms of putting an offer sheet together Whaley painted a picture of just how uncertain the outcome of the offer sheet process is.
“Our strategy is if we do decide to do something like that you put your best foot forward and hope for the best,” said Whaley.
If the Bills do sign Clay to an offer sheet, the Dolphins would have five days to match the offer to keep the tight end in Miami.
