Clayton on Couch

Calling Couch crap is ridiculous, he was at one point thought to have talent, but failed with a team that was not just rebuilding, but actually building a team from scratch. There have been many QBs that became better with change of scenery, Rich Gannon, Jim Pluckett, Kurt Warner, Brad Johnson....and so on. If he shows something to the Coaches in Miami, gets on the Roster, and ever reaches what was expected of him, this is a franchise QB.

Not saying he will be a Franchise QB, but there is always a chance, and if he is even close to what was expected, he can help this team. What do we have to lose with him as our 3rd string.

great just what we need a qb that had pretty much reconstructive surgery on his entire arm. Is this what you guys want?

I'd take him over Sage and Davey...3rd string is fine for him this year. If he actually has something to prove he'll prove it next offseason/training camp.

I agree that the shoulder surgery throws up some red flags....He had one of the worst throwing motions I have ever seen...Probably the worst ever...That's why he tore the rotator cuff...It wasn't a hit that produced the injury...It was his throwing motion over the years.

To bad mouth T. Couch is almost humourous. The guy is a 3,000 yard passer in this league. He is still relatively young and, when healthy, has ability. I would take him before Sage in a heartbeat. The fact is, neither A.J. nor Gus have been overly impressive. At this point we should keep an open mind about possible additions to the quarterback position, which needs an overall upgrade. With that said, I think we should closely examine all quarterbacks who are cut this preseason. We need to better our team (this includes every position on our 53-man roster) in order to head in the right direction.

this will be interesting to see if it does happen indeed....who would be cut???

Tim Couch, that would make 3 QB's who cant throw the ball accuratley or perticularily well on the roster. Maybe we should bring John Elway out of retirement just to keep the trend going, his arm while dead probably works better than these guys.

Uh, no, the article was describing him now. My problem is some other stuff the article said though, that he hurt himself by throwing wrong and is learning to use the right motions now. When the game is going 100mph, will he remember to "throw it correctly"? Also, f he is so fragile that he can tear up his own arm/shoulder by throwing badly, how's it gonna feel when he gets driven into the ground by a 300lb monster? Add to all that that he doesn' even remotely have knowledge of the system or players. Doesn't look like a good move to me, at least for this year.

Uh No!....I think you need to re-read the article and actually pay attention. It describes how he used to play that is why I used the word "reminiscing". The rest of the article describes his progression of rehab and how he's getting back and gaining strength. Nothing about him throwing a ball 60 yards presently......:yell:

"As Couch went through throw after throw Monday, he did all the little things exactly right.
He planted his feet and drove through the throw with his shoulders and hips. He displayed plenty of arm strength and consistency.

There was just one significant thing missing.

Other players.

He's working on that."

How could he throw a 60 yarder to someone when there's no players to throw to??? :shakeno:

I could not agree more. :yeahthat:

he cant be any worse than the poop we have @ Qb. Any second I expect Saban to have open tryouts to the public for Qb.

Uh maybe you need to re-read the article.:shakeno:

Tim Couch fakes a handoff, pirouettes left, dashes five steps, gets his feet set under him and launches a perfect spiral some 60 yards downfield.
There's nobody in the stands that flank the soccer and track field at the University of Miami on Monday. There are no cheers when the throw lands in the hands of Ric Hensley, Couch's wide receiver back at Leslie County High in Kentucky. Only physical therapist Lisa Kearns and a reporter are paying close attention.

You beat me to it, I was going to say I read the article earlier today from two different sources and it was obvious he was making throws to actual persons, not imaginary.
