I like what I'm reading about the kid so far.

Seems like he's showing promise. :up:
 
I like what I hear thus far. Regarding Ted ginn, he was a huge vagina on the field so his speed means nothing if you are afraid to get hit and short arm balls.

yea he had to build up speed to get to his top speed, which is why he wasnt successful because NFL corners just jammed him at the line, Gates from what i read has elite speed AND quickness and is physical and can get off the line in a hurry and get to his top speed very quickly unlike ginn who needed 10 yards
 
If Dan henning was still here we would run traps and draws with him...
 
i really cant wait for our first preseason game, because all i read about this kid, all the hype, etc, yet i still have yet to seen him play live. i cant wait.

as someone said earlier in this thread, he reminds him of mike wallace. ill gladly take a mike wallace on this team. that would be a gem.
 
but i'm i the only one thats concerned wether or not Henne can get the ball to him?

If Henne wasn't getting the ball to him you would be reading these reports. It's only training camp but so far so good.

Ginn's straight line speed is the fastest I've ever seen on a football field. Gates will probably be a better football player but as far as just speed I don't think anyone can match Ginn.

Really the fastest player i've seen is C.Johnson and i think had that race Joey-don-king-porter tried to setup actually happen, i believe he would have beaten Ginn by at least 5 yards
 
Acceleration is just as important as speed in many cases, and although Gates might not have the top-end speed of Ginn, he can get off the line faster. Also, Ginn is a pansy while Gates is running into fences trying to make a catch.

Henne definitely has the arm strength, he just needs to stop over-thinking and throw the damn ball!

It's nothing to worry about.. keep in mind they only write down the times that he makes a play.. we don't know how many of his other routes were shut down. When you do so many reps, a speedster like him is going to make a play. I mean.. Ginn, for the love god, burned Revis.
