Colts give Jonathan Taylor permission to be Traded

Make it happen! Grier can make up for the Iggy draft mistake when he should have drafted Taylor. Taylor is only 24yo and a significant upgrade for us. Miami can make the money work and keep Wilkins. I’d offer up Ogbah, Ced Wilson and some mid picks for Taylor. Indy isn’t getting a 1st from anyone because whoever gets Taylor will have to give him a new contract. Getting rid of Ogbah and Wilson frees up enough cash plus next season we’ll be getting rid of X. X will be 31 next season and his contract increases significantly over this year, he will be gone.

Well, thankfully this is something that should happen quickly, on way or the other.

We won't be waiting 3-4 months for a result.

My guess is if Miami really is making a play, it would be done by the end of this weekend IMO

Tough call. I guess at the end of the day, the ends would justify the means. I would gladly sacrifice a few years of "cap hell" if it meant winning just one Super Bowl. But then again, when you look at how the vast majority of Super Bowl teams over the last 20 years were constructed, almost none of them had a high-priced, bell-cow type of back.

I'm torn on this one. And if it meant no Wilkins, it would be a hard pass for me.

Iggy was a Flores pick.

We gave up a boatload of picks for Tyreek and many geniuses here said we would be crazy to do it. Idiots. If the FO believes that Tua is the guy and we don’t need to use a first round pick on a QB, who is guaranteed better in the draft than this 24 year old superstar RB? No one. Give up our first, Ced Wilson and Mostert and get the kid.

I believe you could swing a trade for less compensation than many think.

That still leaves you with a player that doesn't want to play on his current contract and, from what I've read/heard, wants a top contract with high guarantees (think McCafferty+).

Granted, he is a top RB, but the way the market has collapsed, I doubt anyone is going to do that.
I agree. He was originally a 2nd round pick. Our second next two years, Mostert and C Wilson. Do the deal Grier.

mostert starts already. a couple of more injures at corner and iggy will be starting. run a 5 wr set as your base and cedric the entertainer could be starting. seems like fair compensation to me.
Mostert is 31 Iggy has yet to earn his draft status, and Cedric the Entertainer is at best our 6th receiver. That might seem good to you, but you don't get to make that call.

Sure thing Ray....

Pre McCaffrey, SF averaged 20.7 ppg (20th) and with Christian they scored 30.5 ppg (2nd best).

They were 3-4 before, and 7-0 after.

Went from 13th to 5th in Yards per game.

One player, improved the entire offense drastically. Everyone in SF is collectively saying FUGG THEM PICKS.
SF had a better OL than ours.

Giving up a ~1st and $15 mill a year for a running back sounds absolutely crazy at face value.

The only way I can see this working is being a *very* creative player package deal. Like trading Wilkins, a promising offensive player, and some upper mid round picks. Is Taylor worth that when compared to what our running backs by committee an achieve?
