Colts give Jonathan Taylor permission to be Traded

The only people that would have this kind of information is Grier, McDaniel, and maybe Ross. Do anyone honestly believe this guy has an in with any of these guys or is he making things up?
Hey Rick,
I follow Neal and Reason on those podcast .. been listening to him all off season. He is usually correct and rarely blows smoke. I can’t guarantee but that’s just my experience following him this far.
Come on Grier! Get this done!

Everyone is talking about Taylor putting Miami over the top and winning a SB so it is not misleading.

No one would argue that adding Taylor doesn't make the team better. Of course he is an upgrade over what they have, the point is upgrading that position is very unlikely to make a Championship difference.

It's misleading in the sense that they were not the primary or lead RBs on many of those teams. The most obvious being Marshawn Lynch & Seahawks. Yeah Harvin had the most yards, but the threat of Lynch was always there.

The context was for the Super Bowl per the initial post.

But there are 17 games and playoffs before that. All of which contribute to getting and competing in the super bowl.

My point is looking at the leading rusher for that 1 game is not telling the whole story of making and winning the Super Bowl. Players impact the game in many ways not always seen on the stat sheet.

one thing to consider here is, would McDaniel use Taylor enough to make the trade worth it? Yes having Taylor should help Hill and Waddle but would they be ok with a lesser role if we start running the football more? Not saying that'd be the case but you have to wonder how the dynamic would work.

When was the last time the addition of a an expensive RB put a team over the top for a Super Bowl?

The last time a SB Champ even had a real alpha RB was Seattle in 2014 with Lynch, before that you have to go to the year 2000 and The Rams with Faulk(maybe Corey Dillon in NE counts here too).

Why do so many obsess about f'ing RB's?

Just play fantasy.

Even more reason to grab one. You go with the grain then what makes a team special and it comes down to a qb battle then we have to constantly ask is Tua better than Mahomes/ Burrow which is a tough battle. Nfl offenses are constantly changing and when you have had the same meta for so many years only a matter of time before it comes full circle and we are back to great running games. Why not beat the curve and Taylor our game differently then what other teams have? The two teams that shut us down last year did it by dropping their linebackers deeper than normal, hard to drop linebackers when you have a guy that can pound the rock like Taylor.

I just keep thinking of the strong teams of the past having the dreaded 3 headed monster, rb, te, qb and or receiver, Dallas, Rams, Dolphins etc...another stud in the ground game wouldn't hurt if the cost isn't a detriment to the team and Grier knows whether it is or isn't and he hasn't come across as desperate for a stud rb although obviously leaving no stone unturned.

I agree he’s a star, but historically star RBs don’t get teams to the Super Bowl, at least not by rushing for a ton of yards. I’m almost more excited about what adding a player like Taylor would do for unleashing Tua.

Well remember that was also true of WRs for the longest time up until the last few years and I’m not using TB or LAR as a model for anything.

At the end of the day everything matters a little bit and QB matters a lot.

Having the best of everything is an avenue I’d like to pursue.

Coach McDaniel, the offensive guru/Run game wizard?

IMO not to many coaches in the league who could/would get more out of Taylors skill & talent.

That is correct. IMO, Taylor would be a 1200-yard back in this offense, that alone is not worth $12 million a year. The threat of having a player like him in the backfield forcing defenses to have to play differently, thus opening up more opportunity for Tua, Hill, and Waddle, ALONG with him being a 1200-yard back, would be worth 12 million a year.

Additionally, having a player like Taylor would be invaluable in a playoff game in the cold at Buffalo, Cinci, or KC.

It feels like this has been posted half a dozen times. Is that guy something other than a Dolphins fan?
I’ve heard him speak a lot on Twitter spaces. He seems to know his ****. Not always correct because no one ever is but I would imagine he at least knows a little more than us guys.

The question is do you pay $12 million a year for an RB who is going to be "simply a piece" of your offense? I honestly can't say one way or the other. The only thing that's going to matter to me is the end result of bringing in and paying an RB like Taylor.
It’s the NFL in 2023. Plenty of guys are making $12m. Look at what we’re paying Tyreek. $12m makes JT a piece.

A question would Taylor make the OL look better or wouldn't he make much of a difference. If its the former then it's worth the trade if its the latter do you stick with what we have?

Yes much like Ricky made the OL look better except unlike Ricky teams can’t just stack the box because we have a real QB and WRs.

Gotta disagree, I've been seeing tweets from that Neal dude for years. Most of it is just bs and rumors or things he wants to happen imo. He's not something I would consider a source personally

Pot meet kettle.

Exaggerate much?

Most of us are looking to take advantage of a rare opportunity and buy low on a premium talent.

2 of the top 12 picks in the draft were RBs. Are those teams run by drug addicts too?

You smarter than Belichek, Carroll and Vrabel too, who invest in RBs?

What was the biggest weakness on offense last year genius?
I am yes, when it comes to the runningback position.
