Colts give Jonathan Taylor permission to be Traded

He may have exaggerated some of the numbers a tad. However, the thrust of Simon Clancy's argument is still totally valid. The Dolphins future expenditure will rocket in the future and we don't need another big recipient in JT to add to the future bill (he won't just come here because he likes the team colors - he wants to be paid long term). Jonathon Taylor is a very good RB, but the NFL is structured such that teams cannot pay top $ at all positions - priorities have to be made at certain positions. The Miami Dolphins have been fiscally responsible for many years and we shouldn't flush that philosophy down the toilet for short term expediency. Pretty sure that Stephen Ross would agree with me.
We need to lock down Wilkins, Tua, Holland, Phillips, Waddle, et al in the future. I'd also like to keep some of the next tier of players like Raekwon Davis, Zach Sieler and Durham Smythe, etc as well.

Well thankfully the team is exploring it anyway.

Henry, CMC, Chubb and Jacobs. I have Taylor 5th
All four are good backs. I'm not sure I wouldn't take a healthy Taylor over each of them. His last healthy season, 2021, he rushed for 1800 yards and 18 tds at 5.5 yards per carry. Unless the thought is that last year's injury season will result in a vast drop off in talent, I think an argument could be made for Taylor over each of the four listed.

I've always been a fan of Henry

They're obviously not getting a 1st for a RB with one year on his contract, wanting to get paid, fresh off half a season and ankle surgery.

I wouldn't be surprised if they don't even want to trade, and they're just letting Taylor see why he should sign for less.

I love Henry too. I'm always on the look out for the next 250 pound beast. I think Taylor might have more gas left in the tank. Really between Taylor, Henry, McCaffery, Chubb and Jabobs each are very good backs. In fact in terms of size, speed, help in passing game and system fit, I might say Saquon Barkley is as good or better than any of the group.

As for my search for the next big back. With the rb market showing that any non-perenial pro-bowler can be had at a reasonable price, I would be interested in adding AJ Dillon on a cheap deal next year. Dillon, Mostert, Achane and Ahmed would give you a nice mix of size and speed.

Health/durability is apart of this too. That’s why he his lower. Doesn’t matter how good you are if you’re not available

For as much as I want Taylor, I think when it's all said and done, he plays for the Colts this year.

Achane went in the 3rd. Most experts think the cost would be between a 2nd and a 4th. The Colts also want a RB in return. They have a raw rookie QB. It only makes sense that they ask for Achane. I wouldn't make that trade because of the difference in salaries and the presence of our other 2 RBs.

At this point, I’m only interested in winning a title this season. I don’t care about next year. This is our best shot before we start losing players. This year is the window. I would go all in.
