Colts give Jonathan Taylor permission to be Traded

Well Hill is better than Holt and Bruce were.

Faulk's never approached Taylor's rushing output and until he went to the Rams, he was a 4.0 YPC guy. His receiving prowess was off the charts though.

You want to tell me that Taylor had a tough 3rd season, fine, Marshall Faulk averaged 3.0 YPC his third year, after his 3.7 YPC sophomore year.

If you want to tell me Torry Holt is that much better than Jaylen Waddle, so be it but I definitely think Waddle is as special as Holt was, coincidentally both were the 6th pick in the draft.

You want to put Jaylen Waddle on that greatest show on turf team and he's scoring 20 TD's. It wasn't just the skill guys they had, Orlando Pace and Fred Miller were a dynamite OT tandem with Pace being arguably the best OT in the last 30 years to set foot on a field, or at least be in the conversation. Faulk had his most productive season in his first with the Rams, only then did he rival what Taylor has been able to do.

Its not unreasonable to project Waddle's greatness. He's generational himself. You'll struggle to find another human being alive who averaged 43 yards per TD in college, unless its someone with less than 4 TD's.

You'll struggle to find another human being alive who averaged 2058 rushing yards in their college career, for 3 years, because there isn't one. He came 100 yards short of eclipsing Ricky Williams 4 year record setting career rushing total.

I am a homer, a really good one, also a pretty good football historian.

Hill is probably the best wr of them all, but Waddle isn’t on Holt or Bruce’s level at all, there’s more to being a wr than being really fast, people forget how good Holt was, same for Bruce. And Taylor being a better rb than Faulk is just laughable.

The simplicity of your post is certainly laughable.

In 2 seasons Waddle has a rookie receptions record, followed up by leading the league in yards per catch. So it’s pretty safe to say he’s on an elite level already.

Faulk struggled to break 4.0 YPC through 5 NFL seasons, he was a fantastic player but you’re putting him into some mythical category and excluding a guy with big time production.

It’s fair to mention the trios equally. Especially since they were all able to do it on their own first.

Ogbah to offload some salary and a 2nd wouldnt be bad at all. Trading one's money for the other sorta??

More playing time for Seiler. Did love having Ogbah around for depth, a starter who ightve been healthy this year. But man that would be nice

The Ogbah part is an interesting development.

That appears to be a $9M swing this year.

Maybe @Marino2.0 can chime in here. $6M remaining in SB money is all applied immediately, no? Then $15m comes off this year? Although I’m guessing we’re eating some that as Indy isn’t likely to take on $15m in salary for the guy. I’d venture to guess they wouldn’t even take on $10m of it.

Unfortunately, I would imagine the Colts would ask for Achane. They have zero depth behind JT.

I could see Achane and a 3rd if Colts are desperate enough

If it’s Ogbah and a 2nd I’m gonna guess a 5th rounder is coming back to us.

Gotta believe a RB will be in the deal too.

Hopefully wrong but I can see a bigger trade here involving CW, Gaskins/Ahmed a pick in 2025 for Taylor+not sure who/what

Fun to speculate but not getting to excited until if and when something gets announced.

Really have no idea how this will play out.

Marshall Faulk's rookie season, the league-wide average yards per carry was 3.7 yards. In none of his four years in Indy was the league average at 4 yards/carry.

Since Taylor has entered the league, the league-wide average per carry has been 4.4 yards.

You have to adjust for era.

I acknowledged that fact, it was different in the way defenses approached stopping the run with more urgency.

Faulk was around the average and Taylor was well above the league average, we can surmise, fair?

The interesting thing about Ogbah,, is if is traded in the deal.....thar pretty pays for Taylor for 23,24 and 25 cap wise. Give or take 1-2 million per.

So this would not truly negatively impact our future cap.

Plus adding up to 9 million in cap space this year. If I read the numbers right. Which I am sure I'll be immediately corrected if I did lol.

By Sunday afternoon, we very well may be celebrating a Taylor trade to Miami and extensions for Wilkins and Hunt or Williams.
