I guess I am better about not spilling gas on my hands. Because I have very rarely experienced the smell of gas on my hands after pumping gas. In fact the smell of gas after getting into my car after filling up has never even occurred to be until you mentioned it.Not rocket science at all but certainly not easier than having someone else do it. I am always in Virginia and the Carolinas and pump a lot of gas. The smell on my hands is not missed when I get back to NJ. Do I really care most times, No, but my wife hates the smell of gas on my hands and that's even after using wipes, hand lotion etc. If going home it's no big deal but heading out is a bit of an issue. It's what you are used to. Lastly, the safety of not having my daughter and wife gas up alone without an attendant is priceless.
I just ask my wife if my hands smell like gas after I fill up at the gas station and she told me she has never noticed
a smell of gas. So maybe you should just be more careful and not let the gas splash back once the tank is full.
