Colts give Jonathan Taylor permission to be Traded

Since there is almost no way to pay Wilkins and Taylor beyond this year, would the Taylor crowd be okay with trading Wilkins for Taylor?
We are in a fantastic position with Wilkins. 10.7 this year and next year tag and play or trade him. This means we can have his great service for two years at say 33 mil. Grier can't **** this up, it's like draft picks in the bank.

Okay so maybe I'm mistaken here but does the franchise tag money allow you to go over the salary cap? I thought you had to still comply to the cap number. Maybe the tag is an exception.

You have no idea what happened and neither do I. Conjecture on both of our parts to this point.

But here is something I know for a fact.

The talking heads talk out of their rear ends.

Why has this mystery team not been named yet everyone is "reporting" our interest?

Why is Schefter reporting the deal won't happen when it's obvious Taylor and Irsay have reached the point of no return?

I'm just taking the evidence at hand and trying to make sense of it while you are taking everything being reported as fact.

Differences in approach, we'll see how she plays out.
Schefter is reporting that a deal probably won't happen because he's probably been told that we're not going to offer a first, and the Dolts have told him they're not going to accept our offer. He's more of a reliable source than some random X user.

We can, there is always a way. Restructures, trades etc plus cap is increased.
Ohh yea were need to restructure about every huge contract on this team next year. It's a must, with or without paying Taylor and Wilkins.

I don't think we can afford a 23 million dollar tag on Wilkins next year. We are WAAAAAAYYYYYYY over the cap in 2024
Restructures and new deals will free up a ton of money. The idea we're going into cap hell next year is a mirage. We have roughly $110 million in 2025 and cap numbers can easily be lowered/spread out by Ross writing a big check up front and extending deals using void years to lower the cap. If this team goes far, most players will be re-signed. Grier and Shore will make it work.

Necessary evil to have a great roster with great players. All vg teams deal with it. It's why winning it all when in win mode is so important.

Sure Miami can.

Whether they extend Wilkins or Tag him, his cap needs to be accounted for.

This has been talked about at length. 3-4 simple moves clears almost 50 million without any real harm to future cap space.

Taylor also depends on the trade. For instance if the trade involves Ogbah, then the salaries cancel out for 23,24 and 25.

So to answer your earlier question, Miami can trade for Taylor and extend Wilkins. If they wanted too.

There's a reason Grier does so many 3 year deals

Where are you getting 23MM from?
Thats the franchise tag number to tag a DT. Average of the top 5 players at that position.

Danold 31 mil
Williams 24 mil
Simmons 23.5 mil
Payne 22.5 mil
Lawrence 22.5 mil

It's actually 24.7 if your calculating it off 2023 salaries. 23 mil was an estimate bc I think Daronlds contract goes down next year. I could be wrong.

Even McCaffery didn't go for a 1st round pick and McCaffery never had a horse **** season like Taylor did last year.

How do you know Taylor returns to form. You could give away a 1st rounder and a 60 million dollar deal for a guy who's marginally better than the guys we currently have. Taylor might be fools gold.

Uh...
