A voice of reason amidst the piling on Incognito: For those who think Cogs is racist, stop for a minute and watch the "Bar Rage Video" posted by TMZ, where they flame it by saying he used the word "Nigga" -- as if the video proves his racism.
But if you watch the video, you see that 1. He uses the word "Nigga" as a compliment. And, 2. HE REPEATEDLY ANNOUNCES TO THE WHOLE WORLD THAT POUNCEY IS GONNA BE THE BEST MAN AT HIS WEDDING. Watch the video. Does a real racist brag about someone not of his race being his best man? NO.
Cogs is guilty of ZERO racism on that video. It only proves the point in spades that NFL players communicate w. language that is rough -- BUT it is its own culture. A person in pro sports can use racial language without being racist.
Those who are piling on Cogs are weak-assed, pencil pushing media types for a most part. Blind to the NFL context, for the most part.
In sports, I've been called Nigga (and I'm white); I've been called lots of other seemingly denigratory things related to my race. But never have I thought that excuse for calling someone racist. Some of it was very complimentary, in fact. A person just has to be smart enough and man enough to understand how communication works in a "non-sterile," aggressive, masculine, testosterone-fueled environment.
Cogs may be guilty of being a meathead and using NFL-type language to intimidate, but there is good proof that he is not a "racist pos" as some on here are calling him.
