A voice of reason amidst the piling on Incognito: For those who think Cogs is racist, stop for a minute and watch the "Bar Rage Video" posted by TMZ, where they flame it by saying he used the word "Nigga" -- as if the video proves his racism.

But if you watch the video, you see that 1. He uses the word "Nigga" as a compliment. And, 2. HE REPEATEDLY ANNOUNCES TO THE WHOLE WORLD THAT POUNCEY IS GONNA BE THE BEST MAN AT HIS WEDDING. Watch the video. Does a real racist brag about someone not of his race being his best man? NO.

Cogs is guilty of ZERO racism on that video. It only proves the point in spades that NFL players communicate w. language that is rough -- BUT it is its own culture. A person in pro sports can use racial language without being racist.

Those who are piling on Cogs are weak-assed, pencil pushing media types for a most part. Blind to the NFL context, for the most part.

In sports, I've been called Nigga (and I'm white); I've been called lots of other seemingly denigratory things related to my race. But never have I thought that excuse for calling someone racist. Some of it was very complimentary, in fact. A person just has to be smart enough and man enough to understand how communication works in a "non-sterile," aggressive, masculine, testosterone-fueled environment.

Cogs may be guilty of being a meathead and using NFL-type language to intimidate, but there is good proof that he is not a "racist pos" as some on here are calling him.

p.s. Here is the TMZ Video, in case some have not viewed it: http://www.tmz.com/2013/11/04/richie-incognito-n-word-bar-rage-video/

I understand where you are coming from but whether you want to be a role model or not, in the NFL you are. As such it's a privilege to play the game. He and others should respect the game and what comes with it. You don't see Calvin Johnson or Larry Fitzgerald making comments like that, do you?

His antics have occurred all through his career at all levels. It's a privilege, not a right. He obviously took it for granted.

It's a weird conflict to say the least, it doesn't mean he isn't racist though.

I grew up in upstate ny, and knew lots of people who remind me of incognito, they had black friends, were fine around black people. But I still would often Hear them say racist comments, Extremely racist comments.

It's a weird dynamic, but make no mistake about it, having a black friend doesn't mean he isn't racist.

In the TMZ video, I agree that the way he was throwing around the n word in a way he didn't believe was racist. However, he was acting like a complete ******* in a public place. Those voicemails he left don't sound as if they were said in the same way. They sound very angry and threatening. At best, Incognito is a major ******* with anger issues. At worst, he is a violent racist that is a hair's width from being behind bars for murder.

I agree. I never used that kind of language, even though I understand it.

I'm not saying that an NFL person needs to use it. They don't. All I'm saying is that it's false to use such language as "proof" that Cogs was being racist.

It's all over the NFL. EVERY TEAM. The ones who don't communicate like this are the minority, imo.

Dude. Is Pouncey the kind of man that would befriend a racist guy? Seriously.

That is laughable on its face.

p.s. great point about those guys using racial language and not being racist. Happens in sports every day.

No but he is the kind of man that befriends a multiple murdering sociopath

Did he say "I'm gonna kill you and your family you half-nigga" or "I'm gonna kill you and your family, you half-******? It doesn't matter.

Whether he is a racist or not is opinion, but what is a fact is that he says racist things. Because the word half-****** is racist.

Touche, lol.

But that proves my point even more about the racist part. He wouldn't give the time of day to a real racist. He'd more likely cap him.

Did you actually hear the voicemail? If so, can you post a link so I may hear it.

I think you must not have read my post, then. Because you gave it thumbs down, and then basically restated what I said: That in the NFL, people use racial language w.out being racist.

Those of you giving thumbs down to my post -- everything I say in there is legit.

And you can't prove it wrong. I guarantee it. 1. Cogs uses Nigga as a compliment, and 2. Asks Pouncey to be his best man. Compliment upon compliment.

Maybe incognito wanted bully pouncey into telling him where the guns are? :idk:
