Compelling proof that Cogs is not racist -- tho he uses racial language in an NFL way

I'm not defending richie but did u get that quote from ESPN football crew? Keyshawn was saying Dez is just a different personality than those two. I agree those two conduct themselves as completely class gentlemen, as everyone should. But thats the top role model, takes a good individual to act like they do, i would say the NFL doesn't have a ton of them.

No, it's common sense for people with an actual work ethic and respect for life and those around them. My guess is incognito doesn't even respect himself let alone someone else and he hides behind bull**** excuses like a facade for his behaviors. Next it will be daddy touched me and bullied me my entire life on some Oprah Winfrey interview. It goes both ways whether it's Martin or incognito.

the tmz video was not really racist per say but when he was calling martin a ni99er was he using it in a racist formula? sure was..make no mistake about it that he was suspended after that voicemail of him using the word racially..its 1 thing to say the n word with ur buddy at a bar its another to say it in a very hurtful disrespectful way as he did on the vm

heres cogs saluting hitler

I hope that was a joke.

If not, you're reaching a whole lot. That's not the Hitler salute.

Richie is gone. He would have been gone by January anyways. I doubt they were going to resign him.

Its not worth defending him.

And to belittle Martin is to only worsen the matter within the team because the NFL is looking at them watching everything they say and yes, the media will be pouncy-ing. sorry

Uh, yeah, there's no such thing. It's along the same lines as saying, "I'm not racist, but..." Stop you right there. You are about to say something racist.

Not the same, and not what I'm talking about -- I've been in those situations where someone does exactly what you're talking about -- and I call them on it.

I've been in way more sports settings where race is a common topic. And common "insult," but the meaning is not terrible. It's like a test. Trial by fire to see who can stand the heat of the trenches.

Played an entire game and been insulted the whole time -- but only used it to step up and man up. Be stronger and MORE physical. And after the game, complimented in highest terms -- again, using racial language -- admiration and approval for the job done and not wilting.

What I'm saying is a reality, bro. Not a dinner party reality, but one just the same.

look man i don't think the guy is a genuine racist…but why is he even using that word?

Dude. I don't care if Martin stays and Richie goes -- I will never approve of Martin as a player. He's proved himself as a passive-aggressive locker room cancer and a terrible player on the field. If Martin stays a Miami Dolphin I will like him even less than if he just quits and goes his way (like he seems to be doing. Setting himself up for a nice payday and then not earning another NFL check). And, I will not give in to the witch hunt of anyone -- I will seek the truth and tell the truth as I see it, politically-correct media pansies be darned.

Those who are piling on Cogs are weak-assed, pencil pushing media types for a most part. Blind to the NFL context, for the most part.
I don't know about most people, but I found the "Ni99a" reference to be the least offensive part of his little monologue. In what part of the NFL context is it considered ok to tell a teammate you're going to "slap your mother across the face", or "$%^& in your mouth" or "kill you"?

Yeah, Cogs may not be a racist, but he is either a malicious bully or an ignorant moron, or (most likely) both.

I know -- it's not his word to use. I don't think he's racist for using it, but smh -- he sure doesn't have to use it. And it puts him in a terrible situation -- professionally and personally.

Maybe not in the sense that Richie doesnt go around to an african american in the general public and call him a n***er but given his calling of Martin a halfie, he has to be considered a racist to some degree if even a small degree.

His mental issues are a different issue, imo. Yes, he's got a mean streak and a rage problem. And this leads to massively clouded judgment... can't excuse that. All I'm saying is that he's not necessarily racist.

Yeah... given his set of friends I doubt he is racist in the dictionary sense. Or maybe he is. (i.e. does he believe whites are better than blacks?)

It seems to me that he's one of those guys that thinks he's allowed to use the word, for whatever reason.

Memo to every kid on this board:
I don't care how many black friends you have. I don't care how many times you hear them say that word. Don't say it. It's not cool with them or anyone else. Do not desensitize yourself to that word. It's disrespectful. It can get you beaten or killed if the wrong people hear you. Avoid saying anything remotely similar.

I wouldn't say or yell Tigger at Disney. Someone is bound to mishear you.

The problem is the acceptable use of the n-word today. Some people can use it anytime. Some people can use it certain times and some people cannot use it at all, despite the circumstances being the same as when others use it. Can Rev. Sharpton or someone come out and give us lighter skinned people a guide as to who can use it, when it can be used and why?

It happens a lot to non-black people who are friends with a lot of black people. They adopt the way of talking and its fine when they are talking around people they know, but once they go outside their group of black friends, it will come off as racist.

What you mean "some people". :chuckle:

So, you were in a situation where somebody was being racist and you were okay with it because of "environment" you were in? That just means you are okay with people being racist. The meaning is terrible wherever you are. But yes, I will acknowledge that racism is still a reality.

I played sports all through my young life and high school and never ran into it. Probably because those I played with and against weren't raised by ****ty, racist parents that taught them it was okay, but only in "certain circumstances."
