Why in the world did NE get a 4th rounder despite only a net loss of one player. I don't understand.
Only Roger and Kraft understand.

seems like they get rewarded for not even trying to retain welker. if they had made a qualifying offer (such as money plus years in line with a player with welker's talent and production and age) then they lost him, I could see where you could argue they deserve a 5th. but as far as I know they didn't even give him an offer or even a serious offer.New England was given a 4th round compensatory draft choice for losing Wes Welker to the Broncos.
Yes but its also based on contact terms and money which Welker's and Amendola's should wash out.
@AdamSchefter: 3rd-round compensatory picks go to Green Bay, Pittsburgh, Baltimore and SF.
@AdamSchefter: 4th-round compensatory picks go to Detroit, Baltimore, Houston, Detroit, NYJ, Baltimore, Atlanta and New England.
NE lost 4 guys. Signed 3. The 3 lowest rated guys they lost wash out with the three they signed basically meaning the 4th they got was for Wes Welker. I HATE NE, but their is nothing unfair going on here. If you don't sign big money free agents every year you are going to get comp picks.
Okay let me first say I'm not an idiot and have good working knowledge of how the comps are decided:
Gained: Amendola 5yrs/31m $$$, Svitek 1yr/1m $, Isaac Sopoaga 3yrs/ 11m $$
Lost: Welker 2yr/12m $$$, Donald Thomas 4yr/14m $$, Patrick Chung 3yr/10m $$, Woodhead 2yr/5m $
My point is the two wideouts should cancel each other out based upon the contracts they signed. I do not see a net loss left over between the other three that qualifies as a 4th rounder. Call me crazy but whatever.
