Corey Simon = Kevin Carter

Kearse in Philadelphia didn't help the other side of the Eagles d-line, as N.D Kalu got hurt, and Derrick Burgess had an average year, Hugh Douglas didn't play much but was mediocre and Jerome McDougle was mediocre. I mean i can understand the point that having a great DE on one side helps the other DE and makes him look better than he is, but Kevin Carter at least was a terrific DE in St. Louis and the Titans, had many productive years with and without the help of Jevon Kearse, and if you want to talk about help on the d-line, then we have Jason Taylor my friends, and he's going to open up a lot of sack oppertunities for guys on that line.

I apolgize I was confused, I forgot he was a Ram in 1999. That's still only 1 big time year and that was a long time ago. He's alot like Ricky, 1 big time year in an otherwise solid but unspectacular career.

I would love to know how many players have multiple 17 sack years and if is Corey Simon one of them.

Simon is a DT, not responsible to be a big time sacker but he gets a bunc of sacks but also creates room for his fellow DL to get to the QB.

Corey Simon had 9.5 sacks his rookie year, then started declining again to a pretty good 7.5 then like something low like 2 or 3? Then 5.5 then 7.5. I dont see how he's an elite DT, he cant play DE like Carter can, and he's not as fast or in my opinion as good as Kevin Carter, so he's not as valuable and more expensive, i'm not seeing a point here.....

He also takes plays off and gets blown out of the hole sometimes. He is a good talent, however not so good that it is insulting to Corey to name Carter in the same sentence.

Kevin Carter and Corey Simon are two different players, IMO. Simon is excellent at the position he played with Philly, which is probably not a position that Carter would excel at the same way that Simon did. Then again, you can't slap Simon into a defensive end position and expect him to pull off a 17 sack season like you could with Carter. Two different players, IMO, I don't even know why we're comparing them.

IMO, this preseason is showing me that Kevin Carter was made for the 3-4 DE position. He's been absolutely dominant out there, a lot like Richard Seymour in New England. Corey Simon would not be the same kind of player. If we had Corey Simon, IMO he would be our nose tackle, one that is responsible for penetrating and collapsing the pocket more than standing firm and holding ground, and I believe he could be very dominant...but he would still only be part time because we'd have to bring out Traylor or Chester on those run downs where we need an immovable mountain.

And yes, as a nose tackle Simon would be a 1-gap player in Miami.
