Could Hickey Replace Half The Team?

I think one thing it will reveal is was last year's team Irelands or Philbin's. Given rumours about Philbin wanting to get rid of Incog, get someone for LT if Hickey gets rid of Thomas and guys like that then you can conclude Philbin is finally getting the players he wants.

You keep Grimes and one of the DTs (Soliai, Starks). If he wants to let everyone else walk, fine.

Well, NE has a rule and it seems to work. They won't over pay for the older players. If they want to walk then walk and they will replace you with younger players.

Ozzy rules!!

I hope he doesnt. The more you replace then less chemistry and the more losses. There is a reason expansion teams dont succeed right away.

Resigning Grimes and Solai is a priority. The rest of those guys can be replaced.

I was wondering the same thing. With so many free agents, Hickey really has the opportunity to put "his" stamp on the team. We fans sometimes get hooked on current players, but perhaps they can be replaced and get the same or better production with a player that may be younger and/or cheaper.

Ya know, special team likely cost us a game or so last year after playing so well over the past few years. Our FA shopping spree forgot about these guys, and I am hoping that Hickey takes care of this. Casual fans don't care but, it is important.

Hell yea....Special teams are a third of the game...the best teams ALWAYS have some bigtime players on special teams..

the only players i would resign out of that list would be Grimes and Starks...
then i would TRY and sign the following;
RB- Blount
RB- Ronnie Brown
TE- Jermichael Finley
OT - Albert or Gross- or Oher ---
CB- Talib

I know it's not possible to do cap wise but 2 or three of those guys apart from Grinmes and Starks which IMO should be resigned would make me very happy.

True but, you have to consider age, money, and the ability of our team to contend. IF we believe that we cannot contend, what is the point of keeping an older guy, in place of a younger guy who will be here longer and help down the line?

It's a matter of where you think the team is.

Then you need to try to replace that person with someone of the same skill set or extremely close.....Letting Jake take off was the right move, expecting to put someone like Martin in the most important position on the line and expect to be fine was a huge mistake.
