Coyle: Dion Jordan will 'explode this year'

I am glad Coyle is excited, but what did you expect him to say? That the kid stunk up the joint in his first season? The fact of the matter is that Jordan is still nothing but unfulfilled potential. Who is he going to take snaps from? Cam Wake? Olivier Jordan? I am absolutely certain that neither of these two players are going to surrender that playing time voluntarily. Let's show a little realism here. Let's see what the kid can actually do once he puts on pads in pre-season.
Saying a player is going to explode is beyond coach speak. He could have said he's health so he expects improvement. He chose to say more which indicates genuine excitement.

Are you serious with this? He could tone it down a bit for sure. He would only praise him so highly if he expected great things from him! If he didnt expect great things, he would say something along the lines of 'he's coming along'.

Well he diefinately was right on the head when he described our linebackers at this time last year
Defensive coordinator Kevin Coyle described Wheeler and Ellerbe as "difference-makers."

Yea they made a big difference alright.

Fact is, we didnt need a rookie to produce at that position while we had it loaded up. The guy wasnt in camp in the front end cus of school. His physical developement was going to have to be while in season and after.

But thats the way it is for rookies no matter where they are drafted.

Most all players take a couple of years especially at skill positions. Thats why Philbin has the philosophy.

We should certainly expect Jordan to take over this year. He will be great once he figures out snap counts and gets a jump on the ball cam wake style. His moves are one thing, but if you can beat the guy across from you on the snap, that creates alot of havic and if that happens, cam wake will be loving life. Teams will need two great tackles to get away with holding all day.

.....Dion Jordan is combustible...

Jordan flashed a lot of raw pass rush ability last year. Anyone who watched him saw it.

This year he added muscle and we hope that means power, because he desperately needed it. That shows he has been working hard at improving his body in the offseason. That's a good sign.

Now we need to see development. Leverage, arm use, hand placement, more pass rush moves, etc. Thus far I haven't heard about that improvement, but I eagerly await hearing about it this preseason.

If he makes those improvements, Jordan can be a great player. His value depends on when/if he makes those improvements and if so to what degree. The sky really is the limit for the kid.

Sent from my phone, so please forgive any typos.

What I saw was a player that had a good motor, speed and ability to run around OT's. Where he was/is lacking [at least based off of what I saw on tape] is in the area of pass rushing technique. If he learns how to attack/counter the OT technique then we could have something.

But in all honesty, I personally didn't see any 'true' pass rush ability, what I saw was an athlete of a unique size that could provide some serious mis matches from a defensive standpoint if he played in space, i.e. LB.

Even at 265lbs, I would love to seen him at SAM. But that's just me.

Forget Vernon.... line Jordan up on the other side along with Wake. What the **** is the infatuation with Vernon? He's mediocre at best.

Kevin, the only thing I want to see that explodes soon is our d-line exploding on Brady in the first game. make it happen Coyle, make it happen.
