Coyle: Dion Jordan will 'explode this year'

Dude will see plenty of playing time....trust me. Wake can't play every down forever and people act like Vernon is badazz because he has 11.5 sacks last year. Don't get me wrong, Vernon is good, but he benefited last year from Wake on the opposite side and playing next to guys like Starks, Odrick and Soliai.

Jordan is on his way to being that speed rusher that the rest of the team benefits from. He'll get sacks, cause pressure, force bad throws, strip the ball, draw double teams. CBs will get more picks, LBs will be blitzing and causing havoc.

I'm more excited to watch our defense than I am our offense.

I am hoping we have a D-Line this year like the Giants had when they won Super Bowl XLII. So aggressive and a rotation that doesn't miss a beat.
Yes. The Giants showed that a D-line that gets consistent pressure and harasses the QB can control a game.

Good he needs to and I think he could the only question holding me back from the same prediction is we have vernon and wake in front of him. How many snaps will jordan get?
The cream rises to the top. I think Cams age may start catching up...

If you listen to the entire Coyle interview he said they considered red shirting Jordan last year which I take meant IR due to his shoulder. He could not even lift in the weight room. Hopefully with the added weight at 265 and a strong training camp he can really be a factor this season.

They def undersold how injured he was. I knew something was up when he was always on the sideline during camp.

I also remember hearing about how Ireland was mad he didn't play more, because the staff didn't want him to further injure himself. I'm pretty happy our staff took there time w him and didn't listen to Ireland.

True and if you go look at the stats between Tannehill and Russell Wilson there quite a bit the same Wilson had 2 TDs more than Tannehill , and as bad as our OL was last year if they can give Tannehill time to throw the ball he will surpass those stats big time , and if our defence dose step it up and play half as good as Seattles D we will be in business .....Jordan is 100% healthy for the first time since coming into the NFL and I look for him to explode ...

Love the pass rush we're putting on the field this year. Jordan, Wake, Vernon, Starks, Odrick, Misi

and dont forget MITCHELL!! he has a rare skill of actual pass rush from the DT position. and we also have FEDE. i was reading something the other day from one of the internet sports rags and mentioned that fede had some eye opening moments at 1st camp. odawale O-gun [my rework on his last name] comes to mind as a player brought in that almost forgotten, that most didnt even know about.

coyle was right about never having enough pass rushers. that is what the giants taught us all wooping the pats in the bowl.

you also cant have enough quality db's as the seahawks showed us in the annihilation of the peyton manning Juggernaut!

you cant fix everything in one draft or off season, but coyle gets it and its obvious they are free of irelands constraints and meddling and awful drafts and forcing his picks on the coaches.

dennis hickey....... the ANTI jeff ireland!!

you also have to take into account that the hawks had a REAL run game that was productive and it was used much more than ours.

wilson got good breaks from chucking the ball 92 times a game as tanny had to with a balanced offense. so, it IS a factor in wilson being "close" to tanny.

I have been saying this since they drafted him (Wildbill too) JI took a huge gamble selecting a guy who would be Thea equivalent a red shirt - shoulders are slow to come around if you haven't had a serious repair you wouldn't know how quickly the rest of the arm turns to jelly waiting for the greenlight to lift -canit bench can't curl can't can't can't - now he can!

Just don't see how Jordan gets many more snaps with both DE spots taken. Seems strange that we have a weakness at LB, his more natural position appears to be OLB (albeit a 3-4 OLB) and at least we could get him on the field if he was an OLB and yet no, the powers that be insist that he be a DE. Maybe the plan is for Jordan to take Wake's spot when Wake slows down. Time will tell I guess.

Easy. He'll get most of the snaps Derick Shelby got last year. Plus it's not like he got super limited playing time last year. He was already in on 30% of the defensive snaps. With the snaps he should be able to take from Shelby, and a few snaps he'll take from Wake (expedient IMHO to help keep the older Wake fresh), he should be able to earn nearly as many snaps as a starting DE.

It was essentially the Red Shirt draft class. The first 4 picks were all injured coming in and basically never recovered. Not sure what Irish was thinking. He must have thought he still had long term security to make such risky picks.

The passrush could get so intense, there may become weekly bets on which passrusher get to the QB 1st, gets to him the most, and which will be the 1st to make the QB soil himself each game. They will find ways of getting Jordan on the field.

Very excited to hopefully see the new and improved Dion Jordan to go along with the always improving Vernon, and the ridiculously talented Wake. Three possible superstar rushing options on the outside, with two more good passrushing DT on the inside in Starks and Odrick, if all goes well, Miami's pass-rush is going to be giving D-coordinator long nights to figure out what to do, and QB sleepness nights wondering what awaits them on Sunday when playing the Dolphins.

Has he done anything in practice yet or are we just being hopeful and looking at the fact that he has gained muscle?
