Cris Carter: Dolphins have most-improved offensive backfield

Actually, no.

"So are we talking Super Bowl contender? Well, let's not get ahead of ourselves. I'll save my Super Bowl picks for another column."

It's pretty funny, actually.

Even Stephen Davis and DeShaun Foster doesn't (prima facie) stack up to Ricky/Brown. I just can't imagine what it will be like to be a LB in the middle of the 4th trying to catch and hold onto a fresh-legged Ricky Williams.

Even though Carter did not specifically state that, im not sure why you think that is a longshot. They DRAMATICALLY improved their team from last year. They are as complete of a team as you will see in the NFL. Their offense is full of solid young playmakers in Culpepper, Burleson, Williamson, Taylor, Wiggins, and they also have a pretty explosive backfield with Bennet, Fason, Moore, and Williams at FB. Their defensive front is stacked with Kevin Williams and Pat Williams at Tackle and Udeze and Erasmus James at End. They've got a good group of Linebackers in Napoleon Harris, Sam Cowart, and E.J Henderson and its pretty hard to ignore the talent in the secondary with Smoot and Winfield at the corners and Chavous and Sharper at Safeties. So its safe to say that the Vikings will be contenders this year in what has turned into a very weak NFC.

Cris Carter isn't an exactly a trust worthy source when it comes to football.

Potentially. Ricky has to come back as the force he was, if his heart isn't really in it, and he's playing for the $$ he won't be the same.

and brown has just as much to prove.

If we have a Rb that can give us 60-70yds a game we will be drastically improved. Our running game last year was one of the worst Ive ever seen.

People, we had a horrible experience with Cris Carter, but that doesn't make him a football moron. He knows the game pretty well. He sometimes states the obvious, but doesn't every columnist?

...except me, of course.

Yeah, I think Carter was smart to recognize us. Gus and Ricky will be key additions to us. The fact that we have 3 virtually "new" RBs (cuz minor and morris took the majority of snaps last year) instantly makes us better.

That said...notice how he praises the Vikings and Dolphins primarily. Two teams he has absolutely no ties to. ;)

I'm surprised that Cris has such generous comments to say about us, but yeah I agree that we do have the most-improved backfield, so congrats to Cris Carter for recognizing and acknowledging that.

Granted and you have a point. But considering this is a Phins MB, we are all hoping/assuming he will come back as the same force.

:D
