Lazor knows what he's doing with Tannehill, but Dan can assist in 3 key areas.
(1) Mentoring him on leadership. Dan was a strong leader and commanded the huddle. I doubt that this is one of Ryan's strengths, but he appears to have improved. Feeling comfortable as a leader is important. (I am convinced that Tom Brady's greatest asset is his leadership)
(2) Dan showing visible interest in Ryan's development is healthy. Every other player on the team will notice and respect the interest as visible support and encouragement from one of the greatest QBs of all time. Dan doesn't have to do it. He wants to.
(3) Ryan can pick his brain. Just asking Dan about anything from analyzing Defensive pre-snap reads to how Dan used to switch off when away from the game can be helpful.
