Perhaps this explains why "sometimes" he's not the "best" running back?! He's also changing his jersey number.

Speaking of safety Ross, Thomas said that after seeing running backs become among the lowest-paid position players in the NFL — not to mention his own struggles — he actually wishes he had stuck to his original plan and gone for a career as as safety.

Thomas said he was originally recruited by Oklahoma as a safety but ended up going to junior college and then signing with Kansas State as a quarterback. He was converted to running back before he ever played.
“I was actually gonna go to OU to play safety,” Thomas said. “I was gonna plays safety. I wish I had played safety. Wrong decision, man.”

He's human and hasn't had success that any of us have wanted out of him, I'll give him a pass for being honest

I can not put into words how frustrated I am about his quote. Not even going to try. Give Williams and Miller the carries.

It's not a good quote at many levels. For starters, it expresses resignation that's he's not a good back instead of "I'm pissed I got cut and I'm going to prove with a vengeance everyone is wrong about me."

He's expressing regret and resignation instead of the determination that "I will turn this around.". Once he made that decision he should be all in not acting like a grandpa on the front porch drinking lemon aid with a pooch at his feet telling his grandson "I could have been somebody."

Signing LaMichael James to return punts seems logical at this point.

Very few 230 lb safeties have had success in the NFL.
He would be a tweener

The only thing we know for sure it that unless Williams can bring it we are really soft & slow (Miller & Thomas) at RB right now. Not a great combo in the backfield at all.

When we drafted him I remember saying he doesn't look like a prototypical running back, especially looking at his film right after looking at Ingrim film. Ingrim takes those short powerful steps that you like to see and Thomas looks more like a gazelle, which is not what you like to see from a supposed "power" back. So I think he's probably right, he has the athletic ability to do something in the NFL, its just RB is not that thing.

Nothing against the guy personally. I wish him success in his life. heck, I wish him success this weekend vs KC.

But I was glad that we moved on to give someone else a shot, and I'm expecting nothing out of him on Sunday.
