Daniel Thomas wishes he stuck to his career plan of being a safety

All I can say is I wish he was a safety too, cause he isn't a back. Our damn luck to draft a wannabe safety.

What's astounding is that he moved up and took him over demarco murray. I can not and will not ever understand how someone can look at those two players and think Daniel Thomas will be the better pro. Sure murray was an injury risk but infinitely more talented than dt as a runner. That's the point we all should have known there was no hope at all for Ireland. The average fan should not be able to better gauge talent than ****ing professionals.

Yep Ireland and 68 other idiots GM's drafting for the NFL are dumber than the average fan. Got it.

Thomas is a quitter if he talks this trash - don't need quitters

Light hitter for a safety

There aren't 69 teams in the league, other than that great point. RB was a need for us. Demarco had slipped due to injury and went a few picks later. Not all teams in the league had the same context. For us it was simple. If we were going RB at that point in the draft then those two players were in direct comparison to each other and Ireland chose very, very wrong.

Watching the KST game last night reminded me of how Prince used him. And how he was stuck carrying the program once Freeman left.

Its why unlike many here I don't crush him.

He looked pretty good at safety in the Tampa Bay game last year.

I have no problem with the quote, he is right and every NFL running back knows it. Interviews I've read indicate that pretty much every guy on the field knows that the running back is going to take a harder physical toll than the other guys, and yet is going to be one of the least paid and most replaceable guys on the field with also the shortest career. The athleticism required of many running backs means that many of the backup backs in the NFL could have excelled at other positions if they had developed that skill in college.

It's not a good quote at many levels. For starters, it expresses resignation that's he's not a good back instead of "I'm pissed I got cut and I'm going to prove with a vengeance everyone is wrong about me."

He's expressing regret and resignation instead of the determination that "I will turn this around.". Once he made that decision he should be all in not acting like a grandpa on the front porch drinking lemon aid with a pooch at his feet telling his grandson "I could have been somebody."

Dude this was so funny. Lol!!

As far as the DT comment he has 0 heart and that will show on the field. What do you think his teammates feel about that quote? He's a quitter.

Pretty simple lots of picks before Ware did not pan out even outside running backs and reality the running backs in front of DT have not performed that well but hey thats 68 picks that most Gms did not know what you knew so pat yourself on the back

It's not his honesty, and what he said, it's the timing. He came back with another shot and then utters this. Maybe they should drug test him too alongside Dion.

In what world is Miller slow?!

I hear a lot of people talk about Millers speed, personally I haven't seen him have any traits as a "speed" back, sure if he has open field he can go but he never seems to be able to get to the edge.

As for the quote I think people here are just bitter and nasty. He is just speaking from the heart. Was he as talented as we wanted? No, but I never thought he was a guy that was a slacker or thought only of himself. I think in the grand scheme of things its cool he did "whatever" needed for his team. And his quote is accurate, in this climate RB's are a dime a dozen.

All about the money. Dumb **** would probably blow it all anyway, so he shouldn't fret.

I've told Awsi this before and the rest of the forums. I don't think Thomas is a good or overtly talented running back. However, I think he is a very good fit for this offense. Better than Miller. He can catch quite well and is able to make the one-cut in the zone blocking we run. I think he will do well on Sunday.
