Here are a couple of names I'll toss out there...

Ryan Grigson: Currently the Director of Player Personnel for the Philadelphia Eagles.

Doug Whaley: Currently the Assistant General Manager and Director of Pro Personnel for the Buffalo Bills.

Pat Moriaty: Currently the Vice President of Football Administration for the Baltimore Ravens.

Tom Telesco: Currently the Director of Player Personnel for the Indianapolis Colts.

find an Ozzie Newsome mini-me and I'll buy into him sight unseen! Is the Baltimore guy one?

Analyzing their team and their depth, Grigson and Telesco are not doing a good job. The good thing about Moriaty is that he is not afraid to pick Canes.

99%(made up stat) of FH would be fine with either Gruden or Cowher accumulating/appointing/overseeing GM/HC jobs which makes me sad. Haven´t we learned anything?

Russ Ball

Agreed.

From what I have read on Ball he is a football man with great knowledge of pro /college players and a great understanding of the business side of the NFL.

He is also good at working collaboratively and building positive relationships with owners/senior management as well as players and coaches.

Ted Thompson loves him and credits Ball's contribution to part of the Packers success.

Ball comes across as a decent guy who is a very good football operator.

This is the kind of guy you need to be representing the organisation as well as restoring some class and respectability to its image.

I still cringe with disbelief when I recall the Ireland/Dez Bryant interview. Not only was it an inappropiate line of enquiry but it also made the organisation look classless and crass.

Recent reports suggests Andrew Luck and his father could possibly do an 'Eli' at draft day. From my understanding Luck wants to be in an organisation with some harmony and direction. I wonder what the Lucks would make of Jeff Ireland?

Were you in the room during the Dez Bryant/Ireland interview? Or are you cringing based on 2nd hand accounts. I'm not going to defend Ireland as a GM, but the question posed to Bryant given his background was appropriate. It was a private interview and should have stayed that way. It was Bryant who made it public and he is the classless one.

Well Cower has openly stated he wants total control. So if you concede Bill is your first choice then he is also your GM.

With all due respect to Ball, I would prefer getting someone with a scouting background if we are going the GM route (unlikely, given Ross's desires). Ball is a key cog in Green Bay, but all of his work has come on the salary cap side of the equation.

Doug Whaley is a good name. He's been within the Steelers' organization and did a good job selecting defensive players.

Other names that I like are Marc Ross from the New York Giants, Ruston Webster from Tennessee, Joe Horitz from Baltimore, and we might be be able to get John Schnieder from Seattle as I do not think things are going smoothly between he and Carroll.

hasn't thompson pimped ball as his successor...i know he swears by him...and i thought he also had some draft influence in addition to the cap

Anyone the Eagles, Colts, Ravens, or Packers organization sound like a good bet.
Not down with the Eagles or the Colts. Eagles obviously don't place enough value on offensive or defensive line (we place too much value). The Colts obviously are a one man show...without Manning they suck so they haven't built any depth.
