Daryn Colledge Interest Per Rotoworld

Billy Turner should be at LG

Agreed...think it's important to get these guys comfortable by keeping them on the same side they were in college. Smith is better as a LG as well so I think them competing for one spot makes the most sense. If Turner shows well early then you can start thinking about working Shelley in at RG, he does have experience there so it's not a stretch. Not to mention I wouldn't want two rookies starting on the same side. Part of the reason the James pick works out well is we don't need him to transition to a new spot like we're seeing all over the NFL early in players careers and it really seems to screw a lot of them up.

I like the idea of Albert, Turner, Pouncey, ____, James. I think Thomas, Shelly, Brenner, Garner will compete for the RG spot. With 4 guys, ONE has to emerge as GOOD. But adding Colledge will also add more competition.

Im more than willing to give him a chance. It would be foolish to not give him an opportunity in camp. I just know that last August he looked like the worst cornfed on the field in every game. That says a lot seeing as we had some pretty rotten corn.

But, there is no sense to not give him another shot. It dosent hurt anything to keep him around for camp and preseason. However, if he hasnt made significant strides, I dont see how he makes the final roster. We have 8 pretty solid corn right now IMHO. If we add Colledge, that makes 9.

Thomas looked terrible in preseason at LT, but I want to see what this guy has as a guard at full strength before giving him the axe.

Looks like he may sign with the Eagles, looks like we were interested before the draft- not sure how much interest we have at this time.

ESPN’s Adam Caplan reports that free agent G Daryn Colledge is visiting with the Eagles on Wednesday and Thursday.

Colledge found some interest from the Rams in the day leading up to the start of free agency. Alex Marvez reports that the Dolphins were one of the teams with interest in Colledge months ago. The Cardinals chose to part ways with the veteran offensive lineman and take the $2.725 million in cap space. Colledge, 32, was a starter for the Cardinals last year and appeared in all 16 games. However, he’s been a part of the one of the worst offensive line units in recent years and is already in his thirties, so we’ll have to see if there is genuine interest from Philadelphia in the weeks. He graded out as the No. 39 guard in the league last year, according to Pro Football Focus. Colledge did show some promise as a pass-blocker though.

Turner at LG makes perfect sense because then he has two pro bowl vets around him on both sides. If James starts at RT, then he would have a vet starting next to him in Smith at RG.

Having said all that, Colledge could be good veteran insurance because Turner will be making a big jump in competition and will need to get acclimated.

Whatever your opinion is of how you think Tannehill will turn out in end the picture is well... never-mind. Hope we sign maybe one more OL with some experience at least for depth.

Someone I thought the Fins might look at would be RG Mike Brisiel. He played pretty well under Turner in Houston and then went to Oakland two years ago when they switched to a zone blocking scheme. He had a pretty bad first year which was plagued by injuries but he rebounded and played pretty well last year. Due to them switching back to a power scheme they released him this offseason. He will be 31 this year but might be a good stop gap at RG. Especially with a rookie staring at RT.

ESPN Raiders reporter Paul Gutierrez thinks there's a strong chance RG Mike Brisiel retires. This was from end of February. You would think Turner would have maybe put a good word in for him, maybe its just the end for him.
