Dave's Record Saves Him??

Everybody is talking about how Dave's record with the Dolphins, is enough to keep him as a coach. Well lets look at his Chicago Record. 40-56. This team had a lot less talent than Miami did when he got there, and this team still suffered the same symtoms throughout his coaching career there. They had two better seasons, then gradually got worse every year. Same in Miami. The only difference here is, Dave started out a lot higher on the mountain than he did in Chicago. He rode the Jimmy train his first two years here, then they went downhill, gradually..

History repeats itself again

Dallas is another example. Look what happened after Jimmy left there. Even Barry Switzer could ride that team, and get to the Superbowl. But what happened after that, eventually they got worse, and then they got terrible. Wayne needs to learn from the mistakes of the Dallas Cowboys.
Maybe Dave isnt such a bad coach, but he doesnt have what it takes to be a leader, or a character to set an example with.

Ive always thought that the Dolphins looked like a team that plays "just good enough." They beat all the mediocre teams, and lose the 'Big' games. They play at the same average level every week, and beat all the average and below average teams. Its like the guy at work that we all know, that does 'just enough' to keep his job. He never goes the extra mile, or switches his day off with your day off, just because. But he comes in on time, and leaves on time and basically just does his job, yet doesnt want to learn anything new. You cant fire someone like that right??

If the goal of your franchise is to be 'Okay,' that yeah, dave is your guy. But, if you want to be great, than he isnt.
Its a tough decision to make, but ask yourself this..
Do you think the Dolphins can get better with Dave at the wheels??

Hell No.

And that should be enough.

Well, one out of two ain't bad.

Bush= Bill Parcells

get it?

Yes there is a difference between wanny and bush..

wanny doesnt know his head from his azz, and bush just has his head up his azz..

but lets just stick with bashing wanny, its more fun.

Keep talking politics...this thread will be moved......

Back to Wanny......41 wins in 4 years.....and fired?

There are not many coaches that will want to come here.

But the record that many people see is 1-2 postseason, and that the Dolphins have regressed every year in terms of postseason advancement. Unfortunately, in Miami, just winning a lot of games isn't enough.

The NFL is NOT about winning records...

You have two teams...

One goes 11-5 one year, then 9-7 the next.
The other goes 9-7 one year, and 11-5 the next.

Both teams have the exact same win percentage, but one is on the way down... the other is on the way up. There are two things that will keep a HC employed in the NFL... and neither of them are relevant to winning percentage. The first is winning the Super Bowl, obviously. The second is making progress towards winning the Super Bowl. Dave is doing neither one.

youre right..
lets keep him another 4 years.. that way we can justify his firing, with a record that backs it up..
meanwhile, the fans will be pissed. they wont buy tickets or merchandise. no more monday night games. wayne loses a lot of money.
wayne doesnt want to lose his money. wayne will pull the trigger when it comes to things like this.

Prospective coaches know why he is getting fired, and it is because he has won 1 playoff game and has missed the playoffs in 2 straight years. Also, with all of this talent, many realize this team should have played better.

I don't think any coaches will be scared of this job. They would love to work with all of the talent we have, and they realize that they could win right away here.

Wanny's greatest sins, IMHO, have been in his role as GM. Specifically his failure to address the O-line problems aggresively enough.

As is probably true of most folks on this site, I watched all the games with the exception of NE I (thank god). To my untrained eye, these games were lost more by bad execution, mental breakdowns, etc. than coaching errors. Arguably mental errors etc. ultimately are the coaches responsibilty as well, fair enough.

Should Wanny get another year? I don't have a problem with that as long as we get a GM to handle personnel issues. Norv Turner did not all of a sudden become a moron in one season. Same with Bates. The Phins problems are personnel problems, most specifically o-line. (a better qb and recievers wouldn't hurt either)

Having said all that, will I lose sleep if Wanny is fired. Only if we hired Spurrior in his place.

Fired? hell yes! it ain't how many wins ya have but it's when you win'em. All those "wins" and this team is reeling. It those 41 wins came in the last 41 games, then it would mean som'n. Right now, they don't mean squat!

2000: 11-5, AFC East Champs
2001: 11-5, 2nd place AFC East, elimated Wild Card weekend
2002: 9-7, 3rd place AFC East, played for Division title week 17
2003: 10-6/9-7, 2nd place AFC East, eliminated week 16

See how we declined every year? That record is just as misleading as Jerry Rice's 40-time.

Here is another interesting number that they seem to leave out in Dave's years here..

The dolphins are 14-19 against teams with an overall record above .500 in the Wanny/Jay era... (2000-2003)
thats .424. They only win 42 percent of the games against winning teams..
A not so great statistic.. Maybe you guys can use it in your case against Wanny..
