David Cornwell’s statement regarding Jonathan Martin

its pretty telling that the teammates support cogs. The quotes while in daily life are not appropriate by any means, this is an NFL lockerroom. Razzing is expected, and players are expected to show up to fn work instead of staying home and wanting to get paid.

But to your teammate, though? Fellas, I signed up to watch football not to hear a bunch of scumbags threatening to pull a train on a girl.

Yeah. That's why I think there's such a disconnect here. At first when I heard Richie threatened his mother, threatened to kill him, I was furious and totally sympathetic to Martin. But as it comes out that he was JOKING and said "OK, call me back" at the end of the voice mail -- and Martin did -- that's stuff that does go on between young men all the damn time.

I've absolutely heard stuff like this said on a job site between two guys who I knew to be pals.

He should NEVER have been let into an NFL locker room.

What a mistake. I feel nauseous.

The players must all feel disgusted and completely betrayed.

I knew when I saw that video of Martin's father last night that something like this would happen.

Marvez was saying on WQAM the he scored very high on some test they do at the combine that supposedly gives an indication of a players potential 'locker room measurables', if you will. His take is the test must be flawed or Martin really was being harassed over and above the norm.

I am in the minority. It seems that nearly everyone on here just loves and defends Incognito, but I can empathize with Martin. I don't think that he's just after money, I think that he has probably experienced hell from his teammates in the quest to toughen him up. I also can see the O-line coach asking Incognito to pick on him and Richie taking great pleasure in taking it as far as he possibly could.
Most of us on this website share a love for the Dolphins, and after listening to the player interviews, I think that they were probably very honest that they were not aware that there was a problem. But that doesn't mean that there wasn't a problem. Martin just kept it to himself and then it finally blew up in the cafeteria incident.
I guess I just have more natural compassion for Martin and the situation he was in. To all those who see him as a devious snake, we agree to disagree. I still respect your passion for our team, but I just see it a bit differently. I can understand a smart well educated guy not wanting to face a daily torrent of personal abuse from a dumb bigoted thug.

The thing you're missing here is that this is going to go far beyond Martin vs. Incognito. Martin is going after the whole organization and the players who razzed on him.

So true because calling people half n word and crapping on moms is so essential to the essence of the game. Football was formed on this very foundation.

For what it's worth, I'm A-OK with setting sensible limits on what is and isn't acceptable locker room conduct.

But. Jonathan Martin's inaction here is ridiculous. I don't know how anyone can take up for this guy. He never ONCE said anything, but instead decided to save everything and unleash a nuclear lawsuit to ruin a bunch of dudes later on? Get real. That's some ****ed up repugnant **** right there, and I'm not talking about a bleeped out text message.

Maybe the should've ****ed Martin without a condom and c** in his ass.

Seriously, there can't be a player in the NFL who isn't laughing at Martin and the Dolphins right now.

This ******* has just set our program back 5 years.

Ireland needs to be fired simply for drafting this *******.

You made my point though, just because its a joke to InCognito doesnt mean martin has to take it as a joke.
I mean who really knows whats happening. The rhetoric is quite amped up.
We have went from people being scumbags because their parents were in prostitution to people being scumbags because they have parents that are harvard educated lawyers lol

And the NFL. Lawsuit upcoming.

His whole game was to take everyone down. Let them close enough to get evidence.

A traitor through and through.

and for everyone saying "this doesn't fly around at my job!" no ****! it shouldn't! but you probably aren't in the business of having a 3 hour dog fight every sunday for 16 weeks and getting payed a hefty sum for it either. a player in the nfl is no way like anyone's job.

this has exploded not because stuff said like this is unusual, but it was portrayed as "bullying" which is rightly quite a buzzword in today's America. With it being a buzzword, it has spread like wildfire.

The issue I have is, I dont see bullying. I see hazing possibly. Probably hazing taken a bit too far, but this is not bullying. Those are very different things.

Im not excusing anybody in this and in reality we dont really know what was said and to whom. He may have felt that so many were against him. There is definately some issues with Martin but we dont really know how it came to all this.

Does anyone else think that coment was made by Pouncey? Didn't Martin orginally say he was bullied by Cogs and to a lesser extent Pouncey?

Maybe he saw it as more than razzing and the players didnt so thats the disconnect.

Halloween night I had a friend of mine who works on the same boat as me tell me basically that he was gonna carry my girl home whether I liked it or not.

It was a joke. Even if he could, he wouldnt. But he just felt comfortable enough around me to say something like that and Id know he wasnt actually trying to **** my gf. And thats light compared to whats said to and by other guys out to sea. Really, Martin should take it as something of a compliment that those guys felt OK to say **** like that around him. It means youre (in their minds) good with eachother.
