David Cornwell’s statement regarding Jonathan Martin

This will be the last straw for Goddell. As much as I can't stand him there is one thing he doesn't want - someone running his pretty little league with its pretty little bow through the mud. He is about to have a real nasty talk with Cornwell saying if he pulls a stunt like that again this investigation will show nothing.

some of you guys just don't get it. they are going to be trying to prove a culture of abuse in the dolphins locker room towards martin. this isn't going to be tried by a jury full of nfl players. quotes like these are extremely vulgar and are going to be considered extreme forms of harassment in a courtroon if they are proven to have been said.

Ding ding ding! Winner! A pattern of abuse, a hostile workplace, and a hell of a lawsuit against the Miami Dolphins and the NFL. The brainchild of Harvard educated re- allocators of wealth.

I am in the minority. It seems that nearly everyone on here just loves and defends Incognito, but I can empathize with Martin. I don't think that he's just after money, I think that he has probably experienced hell from his teammates in the quest to toughen him up. I also can see the O-line coach asking Incognito to pick on him and Richie taking great pleasure in taking it as far as he possibly could.
Most of us on this website share a love for the Dolphins, and after listening to the player interviews, I think that they were probably very honest that they were not aware that there was a problem. But that doesn't mean that there wasn't a problem. Martin just kept it to himself and then it finally blew up in the cafeteria incident.
I guess I just have more natural compassion for Martin and the situation he was in. To all those who see him as a devious snake, we agree to disagree. I still respect your passion for our team, but I just see it a bit differently. I can understand a smart well educated guy not wanting to face a daily torrent of personal abuse from a dumb bigoted thug.

I appreciate your opinion on this but I do have to question if you've ever played athletics or if you are even a male. No offense but it just seems like you are similar to Martin and part of the problem with society.

I guarantee that a teammate has sent a text or made a statement to Tannehill about his wife yet he isnt acting like a little bitch about it.

This is what guys do. Who amongst us hasnt made cracks like this with close friends. Im sure in an NFL locker room its tuned up to another level. Its how a lot of men interact with each other.

The sad part is that a place of work like an NFL locker room is one of the few places left where guys can bond this way. Seems like Martin and his parents are trying to end all of that. What a joke.

And a lot of these ex players who now have TV jobs are never going to admit to this ****. I guarantee almost all of them have said something similar to a teammate on numerous occasions. But, when the camera is rolling they will lay down and take the PC route and pretend they find this behavior so disturbing. GET REAL. What a crock. ITS JOKES PEOPLE! Its not meant to be serious. A bunch of phony liberals acting like they are so above such things.

For ****s sake are we gonna have players filing police reports for practice fights now? Start banning trash talk? **** this slippery bull ****ty slope..
btw.. how exactly does it work in this legal landscape if you are getting texts and voicemails from co-worker who can also be identified with you outside the work place, as at the very least aquaintences, while not on company time? aren't you just being ******* if you are texting about banging his sister?
eWell in reality football can still be played without racial attacks in jest or not or deficating on peoples moms.
I do realize that many would not be able to play at the same level without such important tools to work with

I guess we have similar perspectives. I played sports, worked in construction and work in the fishing industry. So yeah, this sort of talk isnt that weird.

White collar dudes who have never worked that kind of job or played ball in one of those spots think we are nuts or simply 'enabling' or defending Richie here. I'm really not. I'm just saying that right or wrong (personally, I think it's wrong), that's exactly the kinda banter that's going on in there.

How do you think football fights get started, man? You think these dudes just randomly go at one another? Guys talk ****.

And again, I'm the guy who was never a fan of that stuff, but damn... this kid has serious emotional problems if this really set him over the edge.

I'm starting to believe the whole incident was premeditated and not a cann't take it any more situation.. The kid's soft but not stupid.

Why else would he keep these terrible e mails ?

You're just now figuring that out? He kept those messages since April. Of course it was planned!

But to your teammate, though? Fellas, I signed up to watch football not to hear a bunch of scumbags threatening to pull a train on a girl.

A lot of things are said in the trenches, these are just words. Are you aware that team mates actually physically fight each other in camp (and even in practice) too?

I appreciate your opinion on this but I do have to question if you've ever played athletics or if you are even a male. No offense but it just seems like you are similar to Martin and part of the problem with society.

So true because calling people half n word and crapping on moms is so essential to the essence of the game. Football was formed on this very foundation.

Honestly if someone said that about my sister I would knock them the f**k out.

Anytime you have to have your LAWYER say that your toughness is not an issue...

While you hide a couple thousand miles away from the supposed offenders...

And your momma "forces" you to give her the boo boo messages...

Um, um... sorry.

lol

yeah, seeing New Orleans here bigtime. You can expect a few players to be suspended.

time to move out of miami. its no longer worth staying there. New Orleans had a flood and a superbowl team. We got nothin! Not even fans.

Stop saying move out of Miami. That would be the worse thing to do unless it was closer to me in West Palm Beach.:)
But if it's out of state, that would be a bad thing IMO.

Well its a problem either way because people also have the right to not hear these things and it shouldnt be based on who is the most powerful or has the most people around.
I dont have thin skin but in reality somethings should never be said anywhere and we need to stop condoing it by saying we dont know the context or intent because to the person disrespected it really doesnt matter.

All the rules hurt my head and believe me its rough watching your tongue but just because u think your kidding doesnt mean others are not bothered by your words.

I'm not one to tell dirty jokes or use to derogatory words. I never have and never will. But that doesn't mean we should have a society where any time a person is offended, they look for a way to cash in. That is even more disgusting than the lewd language.

Incognito is a gross meatball of a human.. But this Martin guy is so much worse... He pretends to befriend people, keeps tabs on them, then drags EVERYONE down into the mud. It's sick what he is casually doing to all his former teammates. These people have families, jobs they like, and he is willfully destroying all of this. Heck, Philbin just lost his son a little over a year ago, and this job was one thing that helped him cope, and this ****head is destroying that for him, a man who may not have had much leadership in the org, but he didn't deserve this ****storm.

I'm telling you, these venal *******s are positioning for another precedent-making class action suit like the Pandora's Box opened by the concussion suit. I've been saying all along that it's not about the soft boy's $1MM salary, it's about successfully adjudicating workplace harassment under such nebulous definitions that any fringe or starting player going back decades can now come out of the woodwork and join. It's about the NFL's deep pockets and all the teams should be concerned once the dominoes start falling. Anyone who thinks this starts and stops with Martin is being myopic!

But in the meantime **** this *******... I hope the skeletons in his closet which will no doubt be explored will include some butt buddies
