David Cornwell’s statement regarding Jonathan Martin

Was it Martin's lawyer, or his poarents that told him crying like a bitch would prove he wasn't soft?
 
Headline from the future:

Goodell bans trash talk and dirty jokes in the NFL. Any player caught using lewd or lascivious language on the field or on team property will be subject to a 4-game suspension and a fine of $500k per dirty word.
 
Why do I get the feeling an opponent said that and he's pretending as if a teammate said it.
 
All the owners would have to agree to move Miami. goodell has power but not that kind of power.

but yeah, moving out of Miami would be nice, but please no L.A.

some of you guys just don't get it. they are going to be trying to prove a culture of abuse in the dolphins locker room towards martin. this isn't going to be tried by a jury full of nfl players. quotes like these are extremely vulgar and are going to be considered extreme forms of harassment in a courtroon if they are proven to have been said.

This whole situation is really bad for the NFL. The NFL and NFLPA are going to bury this guy now, they are going to come back swinging real hard. Or else every other player who has ever told an off-color joke, and every team that has ever had players who told off-color jokes to other players (i.e. every single NFL team) is going to be... just wow.

Congrats folks, this just ain't about the Dolphins anymore.
 
What the hell kind of team do I root for? All those comments are so unnecessary and gross.

Well most professional organizations these are actually rules. I mean if Im ouside telling a dirty or a racist joke and someone hears me and complains I could face punishment under UCMJ

I think it is a defensive player who went up against him. but just a guess.

Cornwell's role for the Martin family is simply an advisory one. Which is to say, he's a lawyer, but not necessarily serving as one here.

Important distinction here.

You root for a football team.

Those comments are unnecessary and gross, and I've never been a fan of that kind of talk, but... I have worked in construction (briefly), and I have participated in athletics. And unfortunately, this language really isn't new, shocking or offensive to me. I'm not saying it's the same everywhere, but if you think this is the only place in America where guys make comments like this and it's just the normal discourse? It's definitely not.

But yes, this stuff is devastating to the Dolphins right now. 31 other NFL teams are looking around going "holy ****, I'm glad that's not us." And then after they're done saying that, they're going to go "Holy ****... I hope this doesn't happen to us next."

Everyone in this country needs to grow a pair. Seriously, I am all for punishing people who REALLY abuse others. Those who have malicious intent toward others. But in so many cases, it seems that people are RUSHING to be offended. RUNNING to be a victim. It's gross.

i wonder he's planning on sueing Terrell Suggs for picking him up and running him into tannehill tree times in the ravens game. After all martin was just trying to fit in and get pushed around like clabo but Suggs took it too far.

exactly right. i remember one time having a very long meeting with a human resources manager about these types of things. harassment is usually taken very seriously by professional organizations.
