David Cornwell’s statement regarding Jonathan Martin

Well thanks, Ophra ! Wait I should call Dr. Phill and work out my feelings...

See the Consitutuion doesn't gurarntee you're right NOT to be offened. And please tell me the differnce between a "hate crime" and a "crime " ? Is there a "love " crime ?

Dude I like you but stop being ignorant....

Oh and you SO messsing with the wrong person now....

you don't know what a hate crime is, yet you are calling someone else ignorant? do you know what irony means?

Here's what scares me the most about this situation...
Yeah, I’m good man. It’s insane bro but just know I don’t blame you guys at all it’s just the culture around football and the locker room got to me a little.
...is he going after the entire NFL??

The timing of the release of this statement is expert. From another forum:

That got me thinking... The timing of this whole incident was great for national exposure. He left the team on a short week with a nationally televised game on NFL Network. That was a great way to build up the story before a national audience... Then you drop some bombshells on Sunday morning just before everyone gets their football fix, and then you have an extra long week for it to build until ANOTHER nationally televised game on Monday Night Football - on the very channel that broke this story in the first place and is eating from the agent/lawyer's hand right now...

These guys are straight up EVIL.

I thought it was very poor timing, personally. I've outlined this elsewhere. This late on Thursday it's too late to take advantage of the news cycle. Nobody pays attention to the news on Friday or Saturday. Friday is actually called "Take out the Trash Day" in political PR circles... a day to dump stories that might portray your side in a bad light.

I think Martin's team was totally blindsided by the way the players reacted on Wednesday. For legal reasons it's highly unorthodox for people to be allowed to speak freely in this kind of situation, especially when Martin's case is going to built on the idea of a hostile workplace environment. The players giving a full throated defense of Incognito would in theory make that case easier to make, not harder.

Yet I think it worked. The players seemed genuine. People are starting to wonder if Martin is a loon in a way they didn't before. I think this press release was designed to stem the tide brought on by the rush of positive publicity for the Dolphins. It sounded rushed and poorly written to me. Certainly not a tactical, calibrated release, planned well in advance. If it was part of the larger strategy it would have leaked this morning or late last night. It still would have been mentioned at half time had that been the case as well being talked about all day, allowing for maximum saturation.

because he has a responsibility to report it, if he didn't and is trying to burn the entire organization because he didn't have the gall to speak up in the first place then personally I don't have much sympathy, ALL things being considered from what I've heard thus far.

I do think it possible to have sympathy for someone that has been harassed even if they don't take the proper steps reporting it. Can you see a hypothetical situation where the culture of the NFL might have contributed to the improper reporting?

The problem I have with all this, is the Stupidity of the players to think they could get away with leaving vulgar, insulting, vile and derogatory Voice Mails and or Text Message thinking they were pranking or playing a joke on someone leaving a footprint or evidence behind. This is the stupidest thing anyone could do. God Damn, this just get ugly. I've come to the realization, the hammer is going to drop on Miami much in the manner NO got. It seems Martin has collected a lot of damning evidence on the whole organization. I'd be surprised if this doesn't turn out to be a $100M lawsuit and major penalties for the Dolphins moving forward. I'm stunned at what has transpired. I praised the players for standing up, but now it seems as if it was more than one who participated in this stuff Martin is claiming. The Apparent Evidence is too much to overcome IMHO.

I definitely question his motives even if I still think Richie is a dumb *******. We can have it both ways.

If you look at this situation and Martin's actions, and honestly for a second believe he still wants to play football, wow. These are not the actions of a man who wants to play football. There isn't a locker room in the United States OR Canada that would welcome him right now.

Jim Harbaugh and Andrew Luck might issue some statements in support of him, but I'll bet you all of my vCash () that neither San Francisco nor Indy touches this guy with a ten foot pole.

Well I wouldnt be so quick to say that Indy or SF wouldnt sign him. In the end he has been a starter every game in NFL and could help a team. Funny though how bad a player he has became once the issue came up.
I remember a few weeks ago people were implying that there was no dropoff from JAke Long. I just wish people would be honest in their posts not implying you

Joe basically came out and straight up said that Martin never filed a complaint against any player for anything like that. You know that the Dolphins lawyered up before Joe made that statement and that there's no way he makes that statement if it's a lie. And that it woulda been called out already even if he had somehow been that stupid. That's one fact in this I don't think anyone should question at this point, IMO.

Yet Philbin's timeline has already been called into question by the report about Ireland getting a call from Martin's agent before Philbin said they'd had a complain from Martin about Incognito specifically.

I don't see why the Dolphins doing something "stupid" in this situation is dismissed as an impossibility here.

Damn altar boys should have come forward sooner they could have stopped the fondling lol

Fair enough, I stand corrected. These where your friends and co-workers using similar language about each others wives?

Yeah. No gang bangs and whatnot, but definitely not stuff youd say to someone not a part of that group.

Martin admitted he never told Joe Philbin or anyone else about his feelings on this.

To who? I think it was Philbin who said that. Why believe him? I'm not saying believe Martin or believe anybody. I just don't know why it would be taken as gospel.

I bet every guy in the locker room has a few VMs from team mates saying all sorts of vile stuff in jest! Never in a million years could any of them have thought that this would come back to bite them like this. This is unheard of...

no. no I can't. your coach is a person you can talk to whenever, you have his number just like you have cogs. text him if you have to. don't blow the place up. the only hypothetical I can imagine is that j mart is the most passive aggressive player in the nfl.

This was in response to someone saying people can say whatever they want to anybody and people if offended have no right to do anything about it.
Not sure where you felt I was comparing the situations because I wasnt. Someone was under the false impression that freedom of speech means you can say anything you want with no consequences whether others are offended or not.
There are expectations of society and laws and I was pointing that out.
Please show me where I compared the situations. I was giving an example that all speech is not protected.
Hate speech is specifically outlined in US law.

You have no idea what you are talking about. The KKK can walk right down the middle of your street carrying signs with the n word on it and not one single person can do a thing about it legally. The Westboro Baptist church can protest a military funeral carrying signs that say God hates ***s and not one person can do anything about it. The only time the law can take action for hate crime against someone is if they actually commit a physical crime against a person and can prove they did it because of bias. Personally I think hate laws are a complete joke. What difference does it make if you commit a crime against someone? A crime is a crime.

Funny you bring that up. Im pretty sure if an NFL player did not want to be slapped on the behind he could file a complaint. As a soldier I have to be pretty careful what I do.
ALso roy I never compared MCDonalds to the NFL I was talking about free speech and the misnomer that you can say whatever youl like.

You can't say whatever you like, which is exactly why Richie won't be playing anytime soon.
