David Garrard has good chance to start

Garrard will make a good backup to the backup when Moore, this time not deprived of a fair TC competition that last season might well have cost us a shot at the playoffs, battles either Tannehill or (hopefully) Weeden for the starting job. I'm comfortable with that arrangement.

That could very well be.........we shall see :)

I'm sugarcoating things and have no balls because my opinion differs from yours..........Give me a break!
I have nothing against your opinion dude. It just sounded like you were forcing yourself to be optimistic. I prefer when people appraise things honestly. People make the case that critics of Ireland will attack him no matter what he does. That's not true. Just the moves that are poor in our estimation and unfortunately there's a lot of them.

The other teams see it different. Every other team in the NFL sees Gerrard as a backup and Rams were interested in him. Phins are the only team that thinks he can compete for a starting poistion and you think like they do it seems.

In my mind this means we are scraping the bottom of the FA barrell signing 34 year old QBs. Hope Philbin can identify someone good in the draft that the GM wont screw up in getting.

The rams? The team who still believes that Bradford is their franchise qb? What a farce. Guy is way overrated and I don't know why.

Derek Anderson once played in the pro bowl, Brandown Merriweather is a 2 time pro-bowler, pro bowl don't mean squad. But yes I do like Garrard but I liked him before last year, he is a solid qb. However I don't think he's the same since the surgery, hopefull im wrong & balls so hard lol :)

If he is healthy and has anything left in his tank I could see a close competition with Moore winning. It wasn't a great signing but what else can we do at this point. Campbell would be nice.

I'm not a big fan of Ireland either but I do think that he has done some good things as well as some bad things. He's a mixed bag to me right now.

I truly do feel some optimism because I'm confident that Philbin and Sherman know what they are doing and will be great advisors to this young GM and will have a lot of influence on him in this upcoming draft. I'm like the rest of you, I'm tired of being disappointed and without optimism and my ray of hope is that these guys will make the difference.

most teams already have invested in their starting qb and rarely bring in qbs for competition if they are set ala, tom brady, eli manning, aaron rodger, philip rivers, matt ryan, josh freeman etc... you dont bring in other qbs to compete when you are pleased with the qb spot...so dont act like just becaue only miami and the rams were interested that gerrad is some how not capable of being a starter...he has been a starter and never was a backup so i dunno how he is automatically a backup....miami has unsolved mysterys at qb and i dont think the rams are that that comfy with bradford and his injury history...so yeah they may have saw gerrad as a backup but would definately feel comfortable with him there incase bradford went down...in miami's case, yeah moore played well..but u dont give the guy the keys to the whip with an average to above average qb play last year...furthermore this is a completely new offense i doubt matt moore has a head up on it over anyone else at this point...the qb position is wide open...sure id love to see matt continue but its not deserved with a new offense system being implemented this year.

Sorry this was in response to the below poster.

If healthy, I'm calling Garrard starting this year, he's a better QB than Moore when healthy, the stats don't lie. Look at their career stats, DG has better career stats than Moore, Flynn and Alex Smith. Look at his TD - INT Ratio, DG has had a successful career. I've watched him play and I've always thought he was above average. I was shocked when he was cut 2 days before the season for Gabbert??? Yeah that worked out well.

He's not a franchise but he can be a David Woodley type, good enough. The age thing is laughable when a 36 year old QB just signed for 96 million dollars. Are you guys ****ing serious with 34 is too old? Or he's missed a whole year? Really? Unbelievable. . .

Some of us are trying to be hopeful and I'm one of them. I know that really bothers some of you but all the constant negativity no matter what this team does bothers some here too.

You do understand the difference between being hopeful and being naive?

Garrard also has more experience playing with a bad group of WR's!
We really are built like the Jags offense. Garrard at QB. A small, playmaking RB. And no receivers. Not sure why we're built to emulate a 5-11 team.

You know why Gerrard will start (and I didnt realize this until today), is because his salary is 3.5 million! We all better hope and pray he is truly better than Moore

just looking at the incentives in his contract makes me believe they think he can win the starting job over matt moore.
