Dear Ken O'Keefe, please teach Wallace to attack the ball with his hands ...

if he wouldve just gone up on a few plays tanny wouldnt have been intercepted...he can at leastgo up and try to knock it down....

Be careful, I started a thread about Wallace a couple weeks ago after he played like crap in Pittsburgh........and then I got breaded by the clowns on this site.

Apparently, since he takes the top off of defenses and opens the field up for others.....we shouldn't have expectations that he will catch the ball.

People on this site are ridiculous. Saying that he isn't "that type" of receiver. You can't compare him to Megatron or Marshall. Our QB isn't making precise throws.

As far as I'm concerned......that's total B.S. If you are demanding that kind of money and you are a WR in the NFL, I expect you to catch the ball when it hits you in the hands. I expect you to make adjustments to under thrown balls. I expect you to jump and pull down a catch.

You can't get by in this league for just being fast and a decoy.

Ted Ginn?

I think people bring up his catching ability because it's something than can be taught. Coaches can work with a player to help improve that area. Now on the other side of the equation, you can't teach speed. Wallace has this because he was born with it. You can't teach or coach Hartline to be as fast as Wallace. Ain't gonna happen. I know there are drills you can do, exercise, or the speed camps in the off season, but realistically - you can't teach speed.
I think with the right coaching, Wallace and Tannehill will get better and become a scary combination for defenses.

You cant teach speed but Hartline is better than Wallace in every other area. Yea, Wallace offers big play potential but Hartline catches practically everything thrown his way, he goes over the middle, he runs better routes and always keeps his toes down by the sidelines. Im not bashing Mike Wallace and saying he sucks, i like him and think once him and tanny get more chemistry he will produce more but right now Hartline is a more complete/reliable receiver.

On 3rd and 7 who would you throw to for the first down? Hartline or Wallace? Id take my chances throwing it to Hartline.

I will say this...Wallace has been alot better the last few weeks. I also think hes gonna have a pretty good game today. It seems as if him and Tanny are becoming more comfortable and the chemistry is building.

Just an example tho...the pass caught by Matthews by the sideline where his body was rotating in the air he caught the ball with his hands and still tapped the toes, the ball never moved in his hands. I just wish Wallace would make those kinds of grabs.

He didn't demand anything, teams got in a bidding war over his skill set. If you want to debate whether or not his skill set was worth $60 million thats one thing but Wallace has been exactly what any reasonable person should have expected. In hindsight I don't think he's the best fit for Tannehill but thats neither here nor there, the bottom line is we have a ****ty GM and this team is being built through free agency (which rarely works).

Agreed, he was the best WR that was available at the time so they went after him. If they had more choices, I doubt he would've been who they targeted, this is why you need to draft some playmakers at the WR now and then, so you can get somebody that truly fits your scheme.

I'm not really down on him, but the argument over how much money he is getting and what his perceived effort (or lack thereof) on the field is silly. I'm willing to bet the list of high priced FAs that fans think are grossly overpaid is WAY longer than the list of high priced FAs that fans think were worth every penny.

I can accept that with any player you take the bad with the good. I can grudgingly accept that Wallace doesn't often reach for the ball as long as he's making an impact in other ways. And he is most certainly making an impact. However, what drives me bat**** crazy is when he hangs his head or puts his hands on his hips after an underthrown pass, when he could have done more himself to catch it. I hate to see the whiny body language when he could have fought harder for the ball himself.

First off you're mincing word and missing my point.

Second, he most certainly did demand that money. He held out of Steelers training camp in 2012 demanding an extension and he wanted to be paid an 8 digit income (this was all over the news). When he didn't find what he was looking for, he bailed. If he wasn't demanding that kind of money, he would still be a Steeler. He only considered teams that were willing to pay big bucks and had the cap space.........and I'm pretty sure Minnesota offered him slightly more money.
