Did anyone else learn a lot about Mike Sherman last night?

Does anyone else get the impression that Egnew doesn't give a Crap? He seems to come across with no sense of urgency he seems very apathetic.
Anyone ese get that impression?
YES I did get that impression. It can sometimes be attributed to a player who was the superior athelete coming out of HS and always being told he was a star. He enjoyed getting all the credit. Then he gets to college and makes some plays and a "feel good" coach starts once again with the "your the greatest thing since sliced bread" crap, and all he ever heard was how great he was, even when he only gave 50% effort. His passion for football is more a passion of having his ego stroked. He gets to the NFL and has a coach tell him he is going to have to give twice as much as he ever gave before just to be the 53rd player on a bad team, and suddenly football isn't so important any more. He starts wondering what other line of work he might try. And not until he gets out in the real world and realizes how good he had it will he start to understand what a wonderful opportunity he just BLEW!!!!

cmon...you cant draw a mass conclusion from someone off of one show..no episode. He is a rookie for goodness sake. he isnt going to be a pro bowler as soon as he walks through the door.

"ONE SHOW"?? No it's not one show, it is his entire body of work, every interview, every interaction, it's the way the coaches respond to him, it's his body language, combined with the one show.

My favorite line was "There are no scholarships here". Everyone talks about the "I would cut you if I were the GM" line but, I feel like the scholarships line was better. It made 2 points clear.

1. Just because you were drafted dosent mean you have a spot on the team

2. Youre not in college football anymore kid. This is the ****ing league. This is where professionals play. Pat White dominated in college football. Recognize the difference. Raise your ****ing game. You have to give everything you have to this job just to even have a shot at sticking around here.

Yeah, it looks like Sherman, Turner and some others are no-nonsense, in your face confrontational coaches. Personal accountability after The Meatball may take a little getting used to, but it's definitely a good thing.

You mean you don't expect to see wild fist-pumps after field goals inside the 10 yard line? :)

no because during the TE meeting, he was looking down and to me, clearly looked embarrassed and didn't want his emotions seen.

At least he didn't use Dan Henning's old spin the wheel device to determine the quick slant to Chad Johnson.

I maintain that had Saban stuck to his initial plan rather than let other people (Mueller and an incompetent medical staff) talk him out of it. Saban wanted to build through the draft, and the only QB he wanted in FA was Brees but the medical staff talked him out of that and to trade for Culpepper. Mueller also talked him into giving fairly good money to LJ Shelton. I honestly also feel that had Saban's family liked Miami, he would have ended up doing better (one of the main reasons he took the Bama job was because his wife hated living in Miami)

Don't blame her. Miami sucks. Thinking of moving to LA.

Can you imagine what would have happened if Marshall were still around, and Sherman or another coach talked to him like that? It's definitely a good thing he's gone, or else there might be a homicide in training camp.

Don't do it. I had to leave there and I miss it every day. i also had business in LA. If your rich it's a blast. If not it suks big time. The cost of living is crazy high and homes or apartments are 50% higher than Miami. Traffic is bumper to bumper from 7 to 9 am and after work. i enjoyed San Diego much better if you go west.

I agree that Saban was bad because he dropped us like a step child. His drafts were questionable as well, which couldn't have helped.

I really do have to wonder why he failed in Green Bay. Was he just a victim of circumstance or was the head job just too much for him. I mean, he failed at both pro and college as the head man, but he sure seems to have the temperament fora head coach, though maybe too over the top. He and Philbin seem to be total opposites.

Sherman didn't really fail in Green Bay. Never won the big game but had solid teams.
Packers under him made the playoffs 4 out of 6 years and won a couple playoff games.

His 4 playoff teams all ranked in the top 10 in scoring offense.
The issue with Sherman was his defenses. They ranked in the bottm of league against passing yards.
Luckily he can concentrate on offense only here.
