Did Ronnie Brown get enough work to be the starter?

I'm not so sure. Can he handle a full NFL game?
I don't understand why he didn't get more carries in last nights game.

At some point you have to test his endurance and toughness. Why wait until a regular season game to do that??

:shakeno:

with as much hype (and cash) invested in this guy he'd better start.

I think he'll be fine. He's going to get alot of touches, and as a rookie there is a good chance he'll hit what experts like to call "the wall," and that's when having Ricky is going to really pay dividends. The final preseason game is usually used to figure out whose going to take the last few roster spots.

Tell me something, what is the difference if he gets injured on his 20th carry or his 1st?
Absolutely none. That said, just about any NFL Head Coach obviously agrees with my point of view on this topic including Saban so I'll stick with the coach on this one.

You don't think there is a difference in talent and being hit by NFL players verses college for 4 quarters? Please remember Ronnie is a rookie dude.
:rolleyes2

He played in the SEC not the Sun Belt Conference. He will be fine. Geez...

Ok, if there is no difference then why not give him at least 15 carries? I mean he only got 5 carries! That is nothing. What stopped Saban from giving him 10 more?

I don't care about what the coaches think. Neither of us could prove it one way or the other.

Actually it's real simple. If Saban saw your side of this Ronnie gets 20-25 carries last night. Obviously that didn't happen so it would become apparent at that point that Saban would agree with my point of view which would be to not overwork starting players that just signed $19 million dollar bonuses in meaningless preseason games.

ricky and ronnie will both play when ricky comes back. ricky is alot better as a pure running back. ronnie will also be awesome this year at catching the ball. ronnie is unstoppable as a receiver out of the backfield. ricky and ronnie are going to form a two headed monster of an attack. hopefully we can go 2 and 2 during ricky's absense.

:yeahthat:

I also dont think Ronnie will stay as the starter when Ricky comes back. Maybe at first only because Ricky will need to get back into game shape as all he's doing now is working out but not getting hit.

But unless Ronnie produces some big time yardage like Ricky did when he first came here I expect Ricky to ease back into the starting job in October when he comes back or early November whenever the coaches decide.
