Did Saban sound like Wanny in his PC when he said...

Wanny said "it is'nt a sin to punt the football". I always agreed with that statement. If you punt that means you did'nt turn it over....that is a good thing.

Wanny's phylosiphy was backed up by his nevertakeachancerunrunpasspunt offense.

Difference between the Saban comment and the Wanny comment is Saban want's every drive to end in a kick...EVERY coach wants every drive to end in a kick...it means you either got a TD, a FG or you punted.

If every single drive ended in a kick you would never lose because you never turned the ball over.

Another difference between the 2 statements is one came from a great coach who will lead us to the promised land and the other came from an idiot.

If you're kicking you're either: kicking to the other team from just scoring a TD or FG, kicking a FG, or punting(kicking) to the other team. Now if the drive didn't end in a kick, then that would mean that you turned the ball over in a INT or a fumble.

exactly. he wasnt just talking about punting. punting is the worst case scenario.

his real point was that if you finish every drive with a kick, you will not have a turnover

The difference is that Wanny kicked without putting up a fight. Run-Run-Run-Punt. That was his motto. At least with Saban/Linehan they open it up and try to hit some big plays.

That was actually Jimmy Johnson's motto. He in fact actually said that.

I think Wanny said it wasn't a sin to punt? If saban said kick, maybe he was referring to feild goals and punting? either way, this subject has serious potential to bring out the hypocrite posters.

That si literaly one of the worst spins I have ever heard ? cept maybe from bush everyone kicks fg's when they're in range and punts when they are not! Some posters on this board need to learn about the game of football to go along with they're love of the dolphins!

You are right. I guess Wanny just inherited it from his buddy...

It wasnt wanny ball that got wanny fired he can blame three people on getting him fired.

1. Wise - come on guy, how do you not get a decent o-line togehter and sit VC who seems to be the most consistnent olineman this year. HE SUCKED!!!

2. Norv Turner - When he left we were left with dumb and dumber competing for the OC position and we all know how that turned out.

3. Spielman - I dont care if it was a 2nd stringer, ya dont give a 2nd rounder up. A second rounder could have been used on much more valuable things such as a QB.

I never believed it was a sin to punt, nor did I believe it was a sin to run, unless it was 3rd and 5 or more. Wanny had the right idea the problem was he didnt have anyone to help him accomplish it. Saban looks like he does. Him and his 23 coaches.

It's not always bad when you have to kick?

When I heard him say that, I thought of Wannstedt immediately. The difference is that the offense under Wanny played like it was hoping to get out of a series with a punt. At least they're throwing it downfield now.
