Khalil is the only top 10 pick not to get the offset in his contract and only because he didn't want to hold out. T-Hill is the future and if you're screwing with him over a small amount of guaranteed money in case you cut him, is he really the future in their eyes?

As we discussed, the sides were still at odds over the "offset clause" issue that most NFL teams had already abandoned in their negotiations.

The Vikings finally relented Thursday, as Tom Pelissero of 1500ESPN.com reports, leading to an agreement in time for Kalil to report with the rest of the team to training camp. Once again, all NFC North rookies have been signed in advance of their first practice; the Vikings hit the field for the first time Friday morning.

The Vikings have an organizational policy of including offset clauses in all contracts, but all along, there was little chance it would prove relevant to the No. 4 overall pick of the draft. It was an easy opportunity for the Vikings to allow Kalil's agents a small victory and really not impact their bottom line.

I personally am considering the possibility that this is being done purposefully to hold Tannehill out of camp for a little while, so they reduce the pressure to play him too soon. "If he had been in camp from Day 1, maybe, but he's got a lot of ground to cover to catch up, so it may be a while before he gets game time." Gives them a little cover for not immediately starting their #8 pick, and gives him a little breathing room.

Another gem by Ireland... What a disgrace. With the way the new CBA is setup there is NO EXCUSE for this to occur. I understand that it isn't the end of the world IF (big if) Tanny gets in within the next day or so, but this contract should have been hammered out weeks ago like every other top 10 pick besides the gut who got a ****ING DWI!!
Why Ireland would ever take risks with the future of somebody supposedly so important to the success of this franchise over a couple of insignificant details is beyond me. This franchise is being run by a Parcellian ass hat who doesn't know his dick from his elbow. Awful.

Think the Colts, Redskins, or Browns were worried about "setting precendent" when it came to their quarterbacks contracts? Of course not. Why? Because no other draft pick will be as important as that quarterback selection. And everyone, including future picks, knows that. Draft picks last year, which also used the new CBA, knew that as well.

And how can having our first round pick, our future franchise quarterback, holding out be considered "competent"?
