As we discussed, the sides were still at odds over the "offset clause" issue that most NFL teams had already abandoned in their negotiations.
The Vikings finally relented Thursday, as
Tom Pelissero of 1500ESPN.com reports,
leading to an agreement in time for Kalil to report with the rest of the team to training camp. Once again, all NFC North rookies have been signed in advance of their first practice; the Vikings hit the field for the first time Friday morning.
The Vikings have an organizational policy of including offset clauses in all contracts, but all along, there was little chance it would prove relevant to the No. 4 overall pick of the draft. It was an easy opportunity for the Vikings to allow Kalil's agents a small victory and really not impact their bottom line.
